With the 2019-2020 school year over for most schools this week, I wanted to put out the new list of top players for the class of 2021 in the Louisville Area. The number in parentheses is the overall state ranking for that player.
Top 7

1. Marissa Gasaway– Eastern – 5’11″ PF (#4)

Marissa dominated last season, despite Eastern only winning 6 games. She averaged 17.4 ppg and 14.0 rpg. She posted 22 double-doubles in 25 games. I can see her numbers improve next season if the players around her continue to develop and if she can improve her range and free throw shooting. She shot 63% from the free throw line last season, and just increasing it a couple percentage points better will increase her scoring because she went to the line nearly 10 times per game last season.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="88416" first="Tiarra" last="East"] – Butler – 5’10″ PF (#5)

Tiarra is a very versatile player in Butler’s offense. Despite being listed as a 5’10” power forward, she has the ball in her hands a lot. She can orchestrate the offense as a point forward. Tiarra led Butler in scoring at 13.6 ppg and in rebounding at 6.2 rpg. She also shot 72% from the foul line. There are many weapons alongside her, which means Butler will be competing for a region title next year and Tiarra will be leading the way with her skills.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="88435" first="Dynastee" last="White"] – Butler – 5’8″ CG (#26)

Speaking of weapons at Butler, Dynastee is another versatile player at Butler. She was second in scoring at 12.6 ppg and second in rebounding at 5.8 rpg. Dynastee has great size and strength at either guard spot and can connect from long range (34%).

4. Leslie Baxter – Butler – 5’10″ SF (#34)

Did I mention that Butler is loaded with talent going into next season. Leslie is a long, athletic wing that excels at running the floor and knocking down mid-range shots. On a team that spreads out the wealth, her numbers may not jump off the page, averaging 6.8 ppg and 2.0 rpg. Look for Leslie to improve on those numbers and improve her stock for college coaches.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="88439" first="Sydney" last="Raque"] – CAL – 5’11″ SG (#38)

Sydney will be able to shine this upcoming season. CAL will lose its top two scorers from last season, so Sydney will definitely improve her 8.7 ppg average from her Junior year. Sydney has good size for her guard position, so she rebounds well from the guard spot and she can also knock down shots from the perimeter, 29% from beyond the arc.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="154504" first="Anna" last="Grace McDaniel"] – Eastern – 5’10″ SG (#52)

Anna is another guard with size. She is one of the top shooters in the Louisville Area, shooting 42% from beyond the arc and 85% from the free throw line. As she continues to improve other aspects of her game, she will continue to put up numbers for Eastern. She averaged 10.2 ppg and 5.6 rpg last season.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="154511" first="Taylor" last="Price"] – Central – 5’11″ PF (#59)

Taylor can do a little bit of everything. She has great size and strength to play inside and she can also shoot from the perimeter. She averaged 12.0 ppg and 5.1 rpg last season while shooting 71% from the free throw line and 32% from beyond the arc. Central is an up and coming team, so look for Taylor to improve her ranking with her play next year.
