There is NOTHING like cutting down the nets on championship night! Heated rivalries, PACKED gyms, and bragging rights that carry into next season… this is Kentucky basketball at its core! The 62nd District Tournament had it all, energy, intensity, and clutch moments from start to finish as teams emptied the tank with everything on the line!

The semifinals, hosted by [player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'], set the tone right away. The home team came out locked in defensively and completely took over, rolling past Elliott County 69-13. From the opening tip, [player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'] controlled the game and never gave an inch! In the other semifinal, Morgan County handled business against West Carter, punching their ticket to a championship showdown that everyone had been waiting on. Two familiar teams. One final stage. Everything to play for!

[player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'] entered the title game with a 7-1 district record, while Morgan County came in at 6-2. [player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'] had won both regular season matchups, setting the stage for what looked like another battle… but championships are about who shows up in the moment!

And Morgan County showed up in a BIG way!

The Lady Cougars came out with confidence, toughness, and a clear purpose. From the jump, they dictated the pace, made life difficult defensively, and executed when it mattered most. What many expected to be a tight contest turned into a statement performance as Morgan County seized control and never backed down! Even when [player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'] made their push late, the Lady Cougars stayed composed and finished the job!

Final score Morgan County 53, [player_tooltip player_id='1501183' first='East' last='Carter'] 50. Championship secured. Statement delivered!

Morgan County was powered by ELITE performances on the biggest stage!

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1216471' first='Lily' last='Litteral'] was dominant, putting up 18 points and 10 rebounds for a huge double-double! Lily capped off an outstanding season where she led the team with 16.1 ppg and 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 56% from the field!

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='376798' first='Emma' last='Clinger'] stepped up in every big moment, scoring 17 points while adding 8 rebounds and going a perfect 100% from the free throw line!
