They lost in the state playoffs this year to the eventual champion Southeast Guilford. With only 3 seniors graduating in 2020, the Vikings are poised to continue their dominance in their conference and well into the playoffs.
Mariah Barrie | G/F | 2022
As a freshman and then again in her sophomore year, Mariah helped lead her team to undefeated conference seasons. She is a speedy player who handles the ball well, especially when driving into the lane. She has no fear for contact, and shows that with the way she can finish the play with a score of her own. She also uses her length to grab some rebounds for her team and helps clog the lane. She even contributes to shot blocking for her team making it hard for opponents to score against her. She has an ability to prevent players from even getting a shot off as she knows how to steal the ball from any guard that she is playing against. She runs the floor so well making it hard for opponents to be successful on their fast breaks and catch up with her when she is on a fast break herself. Opponents need to have eyes all over the court because she is quick to jump into passing lanes. Additionally, she has a nice jump shot from all areas of the court. This girl can certainly do it all!
Serenity Webb | G | 2021
Serenity is a someone that truly plays as if she has no fear. Her quickness with the ball makes it difficult to stop her from driving and moving down the entire court. She moves inside the paint without fear of contact and still makes the shot no matter how difficult the defense tries to make it. She is also an aggressive defender who finds her way into passing lanes and stops guards in their tracks when trying to make plays for their teams. She shows great vision of the floor on defense and especially on offense when looking for her teammates to dish the ball to in order to finish the play. As a senior next year, she will certainly be a great leader for her team on the court.
China’Ra Cherry | G | 2021
As a guard, China’Ra has the ability to be in the exact right spot where she needs to be on the court to help her team. She finds the gaps in the opponents’ defenses to be ready for a pass, and she is always prepared to show off her shooting ability once she gets the ball. Opponents better learn to close out on her when she gets the ball behind the arc, but even that may not inhibit her from continuing to make three pointers. On defense, she uses her speedy feet to steal the ball from guards trying to make passes or even dribble past her. Look for her to continue to show off her skills in her senior season.
Imari Knight | F | 2021
Imari may be listed as a forward, but she shows her abilities to play all over the court. She has a great jump shot all over the offensive side of the court, especially behind the arc. She is a quick decision maker who seems to know what she should do before she even gets the ball. She makes her ways to the gaps in the defense to set herself up to score or help another teammate. She has strong moves inside when playing against other forwards making it easy for her to score against any opponent trying to defend her. She knows how to strip the ball from guards and block shots from other post players. She will certainly get a lot of more experience as a leader her senior season.
Amari Haley | F | 2022
Amari knows how to spot the ball wherever she is on the court. She makes it hard for anyone else on the court to grab the rebound. She is instinctive when putting the ball back up for a score off of an offensive rebound. Her height and strength seem to move defenders out of her way with her quick post moves to score buckets. She knows how to always position herself to make a play on the ball and to grab a rebound. In addition to creating blocks for her team, she knows how to turn those into steals allowing her teammates to have another possession. She also shows quick feet and great basketball intelligence by jumping into passing lanes when she is able to predict where the other team is trying to go with the ball. She still has a couple of years left in high school, too, to show off her play making ability.
