Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Kailey Jones Kailey Jones 5'11" | C AHSTW | 2021 State IA – AHSTW
A regional runner-up finish was helped by juniors for AHSTW last year paced by Kailey Jones Kailey Jones 5'11" | C AHSTW | 2021 State IA .
Jones led the team in rebounding at 12.6 boards per game, including over five on the offensive glass. She also had 365 total points with 277 rebounds, 37 steals, 36 assists and 11 blocks.
After shooting almost 60 percent from the field and free throw line, Jones will be one of the key players in Class 2A in the coming season.
Claire Denning Claire Denning 5'7" | PG AHSTW | 2021 State IA – AHSTW
Another of the four junior starters for AHSTW last year, Claire Denning Claire Denning 5'7" | PG AHSTW | 2021 State IA posted 264 total points with 106 rebounds, 64 assists, 59 steals and seven blocks.
Denning shot just under 37 percent from the floor, knocking down 24 three-pointers. She also made over 67 percent of her free throws.
Madison Ausdemore – Tri-Center
Tri-Center had a tough year this past winter, but they did score wins in two of the last three regular season games.
Junior Madison Ausdemore led the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging almost 11 points and six boards a night.
Audesmore shot 42 percent from the floor, produced two offensive boards a game and also contributed 130 rebounds, 37 steals and 35 blocked shots. She was the team leader in blocks and also made 60 percent of her free throws.
Lexi Shike Lexi Shike 5'8" | SF Nodaway Valley | 2021 State IA – Nodaway Valley
Nodaway Valley’s Lexi Shike Lexi Shike 5'8" | SF Nodaway Valley | 2021 State IA has her sights set on even bigger accomplishments this coming year after helping the team win 20 games last year.
Shike was the top rebounder at almost nine per game, which include four boards on the offensive glass a night.
She also had 244 points with 199 total rebounds, 72 assists and 48 steals, shooting 45 percent from the field.
Alli Boyle Alli Boyle 5'8" | SF Earlham | 2021 State IA – Earlham
Alli Boyle Alli Boyle 5'8" | SF Earlham | 2021 State IA continued to grow into her role with Earlham, leading the team in points, assists, steals and made free throws.
Boyle scored 243 points, grabbed 107 rebounds, dished out 69 assists and recorded 57 steals. She shot just under 32 percent from the floor, made 23 three-pointers and was 72 of 105 at the charity stripe.
