Two teams were able to reach the double digit plateau and the other got very close to that mark. All three programs have key contributors coming back for the 2020-21 season, so who will be the best of the best? Here are some of the top guards to lookout for in Franklin County during the upcoming basketball season.
Kaitlyn Adams (Bunn guard, 2023)
Rising sophomore guard Kaitlyn Adams is one of the top returning players in Franklin County regardless of position. At Bunn this past season, she put up excellent numbers as a freshman posting 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks per contest. She had several huge scoring outputs during the 2019-20 season including a pair of 30+ point performances late in the year. Adams should have another excellent campaign and that should help the Wildcats win a ton of games in 2021.
Alexis Perry (Bunn guard, 2023)
Returning alongside Adams for Bunn is fellow rising sophomore guard Alexis Perry. Although she was more of a second scoring option, she put up some good numbers for the 14-11 Wildcats (nine points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals per game). If both Perry and Adams can replicate the seasons they had in 2020, they’ll have a good shot to challenge for a conference title this year.
Katherine Wilkins (Franklinton, 2021)
Rising senior Katherine Wilkins will be counted on heavily this upcoming season for the Franklinton Rams. As a junior, she averaged 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals per contest for a team that went 12-13 overall. Despite losing some key players, the Rams return their top two scorers including Wilkins, who will likely see an increased role this year.
