Multiple teams were able to crack the double digit win total including one team that rode their momentum all the way to a regional and state championship. With all of that being said, who are some of the top returning guards in this area? Here is part two of the top returning guards to lookout for in the Roanoke Valley this year.
Aaziya Settles (KIPP Pride guard, 2021)
Aaziya Settles had a really good season out at KIPP Pride and is poised for a big senior year after leading her team in scoring. She’ll be one of the top returning scorers in the Roanoke Valley and made a lot of important plays for her team down the stretch. Expect her to be a big reason why the Pride improves on their six win campaign from a year ago.
Natalia Bradley-Terry (Northampton County guard, 2022)
Northampton County needs a big junior season from Natalia Bradley-Terry and she’s very capable of doing so. As a sophomore, she put up five points, five rebounds, one steal, and one block per game for a team that had a solid 14-8 record. With the Jaguars graduating their top two scorers, Bradley-Terry will step into an increased scoring and play making role for her team.
Logan Abram (Roanoke Rapids guard, 2022)
Roanoke Rapids guard Logan Abram is another player who had a solid sophomore campaign. She averaged eight points and four rebounds per game this past season and is part of a good group returning for the Yellow Jackets. Along with Abram, Roanoke Rapids returns their top four scorers from a squad that went 15-10 last year. Look for them to be right back in the mix for one of the high seeds in the Northern Carolina 1-A/2-A conference.
De’Naija Bryant (Southeast Halifax guard, 2022)
Rising junior guard De’Naija Bryant is one of the top returning guards in the entire Roanoke Valley and has a chance to become even better. At Southeast Halifax this past season, she averaged 16 points, three rebounds, and three steals per game. Despite the fact that she posted double figure scoring in 18 of her teams 24 games, the Trojans were only able to win five games. It’s tough to win in the Tar-Roanoke 1-A conference, but with Bryant back, Southeast Halfiax should increase their win total in 2021.
