Between all of the schools in this county, each program returns key contributors that are sure to make an big impact this upcoming year. Here is part one of the top returning players to lookout for in Chatham County during the 2020-21 season.
Tekeyah Bland (Northwood guard, 2023)
Bland is one of many key players returning for a Northwood team that finished this past season with a 22-6 overall record. The rising sophomore guard averaged 12 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block per game for the Chargers. She’s going to be one of many 2023 prospects around North Carolina that leads their program to a lot of success over the next few years. Expect Bland and the Chargers to make noise once again out of the Big Eight 3-A conference.
Morgan Lineberry (Chatham Charter forward, 2021)
Lineberry averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game this past season for Chatham Charter and that was part of why they led the county with 27 wins. The rising senior forward should continue to be one of the best post players in the county thanks to her play on both ends of the floor. She averaged two steals and two blocks per game to go along with her offensive production and due to that, expect the Knights to make another deep postseason run.
Danielle Vaughn (Chatham Central guard, 2021)
Vaughn played a great role in Chatham Central’s success this past season and made her mark by shooting the lights out. She’s a really good ball handler that can make a lot of plays off the dribble whether it’s to score or to pass. With her returning, they should be able to build on a successful 2019-20 season that saw the Bears win 16 games and reach the third round of the 1-A state playoffs.
