A lot of key contributors will return next year which could mean a significant improvement among the teams in this county. Here are of the top returning players to lookout for in Duplin County during the 2020-21 season.
Amiaya Hall (East Duplin forward, 2023)
Amaiya Hall is a name college coaches should get used to hearing. The rising sophomore forward led East Duplin in scoring (12 points per game), rebounding (nine per game), and blocks (one per game) during her freshman year. With the Panthers replacing a good group of seniors, Hall will be expected to step up even more for a team that won 20 games this past season. With her ability to make plays off the dribble and her efficiency in the paint, she’s set to up for a very successful career in Beulaville.
Imari Judge (East Duplin guard, 2021)
Judge was a knockdown shooter and defended extremely well for East Duplin this past season. The rising senior guard is an excellent passer and a few really good scoring outputs throughout the season. She’ll be counted on a lot more to make plays on both ends of the floor with the graduation of standout senior Marley Ingram.
Nora Williams (James Kenan guard, 2022)
Williams nearly averaged a double double as a sophomore for James Kenan this past season. The rising junior put up 13 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest while being a very efficient three point shooter for the Tigers. She’ll be counted on a lot more next season as her team looks to make it back to the 2-A state playoffs.
Alexus Wilson (Wallace-Rose Hill guard, 2021)
Wilson put up solid numbers for Wallace-Rose Hill during the 2019-20 season. The rising senior guard averaged 10 points per game to go along with 1.3 steals per contest. With the Bulldogs only reaching seven wins this past year, Wilson’s role is expected to increase. She is a very consistent scoring threat, so with her improvement, Wallace-Rose Hill should be able to improve on their win total from a season ago.
