In Harnett County, multiple programs reached double digit victories and state playoff appearances. Each program returns key contributors that are sure to make an big impact this upcoming year. Here is part one of the top returning players to lookout for in Harnett County during the 2020-21 season.
Syniah McMiller (Harnett Central forward, 2021)
McMiller is one of the top returning players in the county after a stellar junior season for the Harnett Central Trojans. She averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, and six blocks per contest putting in work on both ends of the floor. As a senior, her stock should continue to trend upwards as she looks to help her team continue their success from the 2019-20 season. Harnett Central finished with an 18-6 record and should be one of the favorites in the Tri-County 6 3-A conference.
Anastasia McDonald (Triton guard, 2021)
McDonald help Triton finish with 12 wins this past season after putting up eight points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals per game. The rising senior guard made a lot of big plays down the stretch of the season for the Hawks. Triton returns their top three scorers including McDonald, so they should be in the hunt for a playoff spot this upcoming year.
Maaika Dones (Overhills guard, 2021)
Dones put up eight points, three rebounds, and two steals per game this past season for Overhills. The rising senior will be a part of an excellent returning group for the Jaguars after they finished with 12 wins last season. Overhills will need another good season out of Dones if they want to make some noise in the Patriot Athletic 3-A/4-A conference next year.
