Between the three schools in this county, each program returns key contributors that are sure to make an big impact this upcoming year. Here are the top returning players to lookout for in Lee County during the 2020-21 season.
Alyssa Martin (Lee County guard, 2022)
Although Lee County was only able to win four games during the 2019-20 season, Alyssa Martin was a bright spot for them and is one of their top returning players. The rising junior guard averaged seven points, five rebounds, and two steals per game for the Yellow Jackets. She’ll be a key to improvement for her team, but Lee County will need many players to step up if they want to improve their record in the Tri-County 6 3-A conference.
Chaira Staudenmayer (Grace Christian guard/forward, 2021)
Chaira Staudenmayer is part of a really good group coming back for Grace Christian next season. Her junior season went well as she averaged seven points, three rebounds, and two steals per contest for a team that went 25-10 last year. The Crusaders will need her in an increased role this upcoming season since they’re losing their top three scorers to graduation. Expect Staudenmayer and Grace Christian to be back in the conference title hunt as they look to challenge the Burlington School next year.
Nekesha Locklear (Southern Lee guard, 2021)
Nakesha Locklear is another solid guard in Lee County that had a good 2019-20 season. She averaged six points and two steals per contest for Southern Lee and is expected have the ball in her hands a lot during the upcoming year. The Cavaliers finished this past season with a 6-20 record, so they’re going to need Locklear and a few others to step up during the 2020-21 season if they want to improve that mark.
