Between all of the schools in this county, each program returns key contributors that are sure to make an big impact this upcoming year. Here are of the top returning players to lookout for in Moore County during the 2020-21 season.
Caelan McHarney (O’Neal School guard, 2022)
McHarney is one of the top returning players for a program that has reached back-to-back NCISAA 2-A state title games and won 26 games last year. With the graduation of standout senior Hadiya Balser among others, the rising junior guard will see a bigger role scoring wise. She’s capable of leading the Falcons to another deep playoff run as they look to get over the hump during the 2020-21 season.
Emily Bowbliss (Union Pines guard/forward, 2021)
Bowbliss had a really good junior campaign at Union Pines and will be counted on heavily next season as part of a really good group coming back. She averaged nine points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block per contest. The Vikings won the Tri-County 6 3-A conference regular season and tournament championship thanks to Bowbliss’ excellent play. Union Pines should improve their record and make some noise in the 3-A state playoffs with the rising senior forward back in the lineup.
Aniyah Jackson (Pinecrest guard, 2022)
Aniyah Jackson is a solid returning player for Pinecrest made a lot of plays defensively throughout the year. With the graduation of top scorers Keayna Mclaughlin and Sha’hoda Kelley, Jackson will see a significant increase in usage, so her numbers should easily rise next season. The Patriots need multiple players to step up for next year if they want to improve on their 14-12 record from this past season.
