Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Samantha Scott Samantha Scott 5'9" | SF North Scott | 2021 State IA – North Scott
North Scott’s Samantha Scott Samantha Scott 5'9" | SF North Scott | 2021 State IA finished her junior season with almost a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Scott scored 211 points in 26 games for the Lancers, adding 56 rebounds, 44 assists, 33 steals and even blocking a handful of shots.
She knocked down 53 three-pointers, shooting almost 40 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep. Scott was also effective at the free throw line, sinking 82 percent of her shots.
Brandy Walker – Fort Madison
Part of the Class of 2022 that played a key role for Fort Madison was Brandy Walker.
Walker contributed 186 points with 146 rebounds, including 38 offensive boards. She also tallied 30 steals and 17 assists.
A 40 percent shooter from the field, Walker also knocked down over 54 percent of her free throw tries.
Keleigh Hall – Keokuk
As she moves into her senior season, Keokuk’s Keleigh Hall has plenty to build off of.
Hall finished with 136 points in 22 games, adding 79 rebounds, 33 steals and 25 assists. She shot 32 percent from the field for the Chiefs with 14 made triples and was a 70 percent free throw shooter.
Emma Huckabone – Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant’s Emma Huckabone will take control of the team this coming year as a returning senior starter.
Huckabone had 114 points with 67 rebounds and 20 steals a season ago. She shot over 41 percent from the floor and also made almost 65 percent of her 65 free throw attempts.
Nadia Boeding – Fort Madison
Another Class of 2022 player seeking bigger things this year is Fort Madison’s Nadia Boeding.
Boeding had 102 points on 36 percent shooting with 24 made three-pointers last year for the Bloodhounds. She also recorded 57 rebounds, 16 assists and 13 steals.
