Grind Academy had 3 players in double digits: Kaylee Carson (19), Tymaris Daniels (15), and Seini Hicks (14).
Carson is a phenomenal guard who is looking to make an immediate impact for her high school team as a freshman. She is great handling the ball and moves fluidly around defenders. She has a good vision for the court getting all of her teammates involved. She even has a nice floater over the top of defenders. She contributes rebounds that for her typically turn into fast transition points for her team. On defense, she had several steals jumping into the passing lanes of her opponents and picking the pocket of guards trying to get by her. Coaches need to keep an eye on this one!
Daniels (2025) seemed to hold a shooting clinic herself making three three-pointers in the game. She was also a fast guard converting steals into easy transition points. She was a terror on defense making it difficult for players to get by her.
Hicks (2025) was strong inside grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court. She ran the floor well, too, making sure to stop opponents from getting a fast break or being the one to score transition points for her team. She was a great defender finding herself in the best position to prevent the opponents from scoring. She had several blocks in the game that turned into steals. From midrange, she had a nice jump shot and even converted a turn around jumper for two.
Charlotte Dream Elite saw some stellar play from Ashlee Shaw. She had 13 points, and these points were from all over the court. She would drive the ball inside against contact with ease. She had a great vision of the court knowing where the open lanes were for her to make a shot, drive the ball, or find a teammate to score. She also contributed some rebounds for her team.
Mackenzie Maggs added 8 points showing off her shot from behind the arc with two three pointers. She created some great space from defenders making the shots easier for herself.
