The leading scorer for both sides was Sierra Wade (Team Carolina) with 13 points. She was a great shooter from behind the arc. She used that to her advantage, too, by faking and driving around players trying to block her shot. She hit three pointers throughout the game even when the game was on the line.
Natalie Parris was a key piece to Team Carolina getting back and keeping the lead at the end of the game. She drove the ball into the lane blowing by defenders. Her moves with the ball were crucial, and she positioned herself well to make contributions for her team. She was aggressive when it came to obtaining rebounds even creating offensive rebound opportunities for put backs. She finished with 8 points.
Running the point for a good portion of the game for Team Carolina was Sarah Roberson who showed good vision on the court. She was aggressive on defense creating steals for her team to have a chance with the ball. She finished with 5 points and probably just as many steals and assists.
In the post, Samantha Davis showed true aggressive and smart defense. She was told to guard taller players than her and used her strength and length to help prevent them from being successful on offense. She grabbed rebounds and made post moves against her opponents with ease. She finished with 4 points.
On the other end of the court, Halle Chaffin scored the most for PSB 16U Rise with 12 points. She is a fast player who knows how to score well inside. Using her strength and aggressive moves, she always found her way to the basket. Opponents seem to not have an answer for guarding her except to send her to the free throw line. She even had a few key blocks in the game keeping PSB a close contender.
Nykeriasia Coleman contributed 8 points for her team by making quick moves with the ball. She even had the defender on the floor at one point. She was aggressive moving towards the basket drawing fouls and still making the bucket. She hustled on every single play that she was on the court and made a huge three pointer down the stretch of the game.
Running the point guard position for PSB, McKenzie Taylor was a floor general controlling the tempo of the game. She knew when it was best to push the ball up the court and slow down to let her team set up a play. She showed off her ball handling skills even when she was well defended. On defense herself, she was aggressive creating steals and deflections making it nearly impossible to get by her.
Lastly, Marissa Sorvillo contributed 5 points. As a guard, she was not afraid to get inside for the offensive rebound finding herself with some put backs to help her team. She created havoc on defense creating steals in passing lanes and even pick pocketing her opponents to take the ball in the opposite direction using her speed to make fast break options for her team.
