Oregon Elite 17U Gold started things off in Indiana against Indiana Elite, an Adidas team with a lot of talent. The game started off well for Oregon Elite, as the first points were scored off an Allie Hueckman jumper from Reese Ericson. On the following possession Reese found an open Addie Reardon in the corner for a three as Oregon Elite took an early lead 5 - 2. [player_tooltip player_id="158507" first="Kilyn" last="Dawkins"] was active early as a rebounder, as she collected 8 in the first half alone. One of her offensive rebounders she kicked out to an open Ericson at the top of the key for a triple. [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] was an engaged defender who took up space in the middle and put her body on the line as well as had several nice blocks. Dazey was the recipient of a fastbreak pass from [player_tooltip player_id="158555" first="Keelie" last="O’Hollaren"] and on the next play, she found Gracie Arnold on a beautiful entry pass into the post. Dazey was able to score again on a mid-range jumper and on another possession, Gracie Arnold made an excellent pass into Dawkins for a score. Reese found Hueckman for a triple, at halftime things were relatively close as Indiana Elite led 33 to 27.
The second half Oregon Elite came out on a strong note as [player_tooltip player_id="158530" first="Elka" last="Prechel"] sank one from deep to keep them within three points. Ericson would find O’Hollaren on the perimeter for a two. Elka drove and passed it into Ericson for a short jumper. Keelie would get the defensive rebound and go the length of the court and use a beautiful euro step to avoid the lone defender at the rim to make it 36 - 37. But Indiana Elite began beating Oregon Elite in the transition as well on the second chance opportunities, as they were getting a lot of easy points at their own discretion. Their fastbreak opportunities would be too much to overcome, but Addie Reardon would show a lot of resilience as she drove to the rim and made several trips to the free throw line. Her highlight play came when she swiped at the ball under the rim and made the lay-up while getting fouled, showing her gritty overall play. But in the end, Indiana Elite was too much for Oregon Elite as they took this game 70 - 47.

Wilson and Dawkins: Yin and Yang
[player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="158507" first="Kilyn" last="Dawkins"] are both defensive oriented posts who bring a lot of size but different skill sets for Oregon Elite. Lindsey, who is also a water polo player, is not new to putting her body on the line and making plays for others and she will make the correct defensive rotations and make it difficult for others to score in the paint. She has excellent defensive awareness and great timing on blocks. Dawkins is the more mobile forward who uses great box out techniques and grabs every rebound in her vicinity. She is a capable passer that can play the high/low with other forwards and has some moves in the post as well.
Lakeridge Trio at Work
Addie Reardon is the fearless leader that plays with a lot of effort on every possession, no matter whether her team is up or down. This was displayed in full effect against Indiana Elite, as she kept pushing the matter even though they were down by double digits. Reese Ericson is a traditional point guard in the sense that she can find others in excellent pockets but also knows when it is time to score herself. Keele O’Hollaren is an athletic wing that brings a lot of energy and makes a lot of plays based on positioning and IQ.
Allie Hueckman: Prolific Scorer
We all know Allie as the three level scorer that makes it look so effortless out there. Although her shot from deep wasn’t falling as it usually does, Hueckman made some several amazing shots out there including one where she drove in the lane to only be met by two defenders. She raised up and threw up a prayer, that bounced off the rim and glass before going down. Such amazing shots are the DNA strain of a pure shooter who makes adjustments to the defense and has an amazing touch on the ball.
