Continue ReadingI wanted to go back and acknowledge some players I caught the weekend before last at the Bigfoot Kingwood Classic in the 11th/12th Grade Division and one of those players, Aniya Foy, hasn’t even entered high school yet but the talented 2025 has already impressed me enough to tab her a #D1Lock which was solidified by her receiving an offer from a Division 1 program a few weeks ago but here are some of those that just went completely off
2021
Lily Baumgardner-Big Basketball Academy
Baumgardner is long and athletic, she played the passing lane to a tee and it usually led to her stealing the ball and going in for uncontested layups yet she can also take defenders off the dribble in the half-court, either all the way to the basket or knocking the midrange down but she did a good job not only defending but rebounding as well
Daniela Alzate-Big Basketball Academy
Alzate was solid all tournament up until she suffered an injury in the semifinals which kept her out of the championship game yet before that happened, she played huge, on both ends of the court, and with her savviness as well as her being on the court, the team fed off of her energy which stayed at the same level.
Sarah Narum-Big Basketball Academy
Narum was clutch down the stretch and played a huge part in the team making a double-digit comeback late in the game to win the championship. I’m almost certain she scored the last 10 points of the game but it may have been 8 out of the last 10 with an assist but she assisted in so many ways
2022
Savannah Velazquez Savannah Velazquez 5'5" | PG George Ranch | 2022 State TX -Rice Raptors (George Ranch HS)
Velasquez was my MVP of the event, no need to vote as many times as you like, I was there and I certainly know what I was looking at and be it taking defenders at Will and showing no Grace, her and ones and the three-ball, not to leave out the clutch defense and assists spoke volumes over and over and over
Ameria Castillo-Rice Raptors (North Shore HS)
Castillo’s confidence has shot up and so has her decision to show what I already knew, she can create her shot and knock it down so with confidence comes maturity or vice versa, nevertheless, she understood that she could set defenders up with ease and she did plus she did a good job defending
Atria Dumas-Rice Raptors (North Shore HS)
Dumas turned a big corner she’s over “the magic number” she’s long and athletic but her “fight” in the paint for rebounds as well as for loose balls has one way up not to mention nice scoring on the inside as well as blocking shots but igniting the break on one end and finishing on the other was awesome
2023
Lyric Barr-Principles First (Katy HS)
Barr none, she has taken a big jump with her college-ready body as well as playing under control. She’s strong and finishes with power, either in the paint or taking defenders off the dribble from the wing, which has definitely gotten better since I saw her earlier in the season. Her upside is scary, trust me
Sania Thomas-Principles First (Mayde Creek HS)
Thomas is long and athletic, hey “that’s the base” and watching her play the passing lane a few months ago was intriguing yet she’s doing that as well as scoring more in a variety of ways including facing the basket. She plays within herself, doesn’t force anything, and does a good job defending
2025
Aniya Foy-Lady Defenders Black
Foy is also “long and athletic” and can handle the ball in the open court and that creates numerous problems for defenders as she’s showing she can be a “nightmare to defend” because her options are going coast to coast and finish, hit teammates going full speed or pull up for the jumper, mid to long-range. She creates in the half-court and will be one of the top players in the country
