Jaya McClure Jaya McClure 5'6" | PG Christian Academy Louisville | 2022 State KY – Christian Academy-Louisville – 5’6″ – PG
Jaya’s stock jumped six spots in the latest rankings. She will definitely have a chance to prove she can be that go to leader for CAL this season. Jaya will have the opportunity to not only run the offense, but to also be the number one scoring option. She has numerous D1 offers now, but you can expect more to come in during this season.
Emma Egan Emma Egan 5'8" | SF Bullitt East | 2022 State KY – Bullitt East – 5’8″ – SF
Emma moved up 4 spots to get into the top 15. She had a very strong summer season with Kentucky Premier. Emma is one of those players that is a coach’s dream. She is very versatile and has a tremendous skill set on both ends of the floor. She will be the top scoring option for Bullitt East this season, so expect her numbers to go up from last year.
Gracie Merkle Gracie Merkle 6'6" | C Bullitt East | 2022 State KY – Bullitt East – 6’5″ – C
Speaking of Bullitt East, Gracie will be another major factor in their success. She is a force down low with her ability to score or just take over on the glass. I’m not sure if there will be a better inside-out duo of Egan and Merkle in the state. If Gracie can stay on the floor for longer stretches of time, then look for her to climb the rankings even more than her 6 spot jump on this ranking.
Amaya Curry Amaya Curry 5'6" | CG Apollo | 2022 State KY – Apollo – 5’6″ – CG
Amaya made the biggest jump (28 spots) in the updated rankings. She struggled a little last year after moving to Apollo from Owensboro. As a freshman, Amaya averaged 14 points per game and that dipped to just over 8 points this past season. Apollo will be a top team in the 3rd Region this season with a majority of their roster returning. Amaya had a great summer with TN Flight and if that momentum can carry through the season then she will climb even higher in the rankings. She has started to hear from several D1 school and except those to keep coming.
Lauren Thomas Lauren Thomas 5'9" | PF Henry Clay | 2022 State KY – Henry Clay – 5’9″ – PF
Lauren was the biggest riser in the Lexington Area, moving up four spots. She is a rebounding machine. Lauren averaged nearly 10 rebounds per game last season to go with her 7.5 points per game. Expect Lauren to be averaging a double-double this season as this Henry Clay team looks to be fighting in the 11th Region.
