On Day Two of the 28.5 League “The Bubble” Session III, Oregon Elite Navy played a more than worthy adversary in that of NW Blazers – led by Oregon State signee Talia von Oolhoffen. Oregon Elite played a very calculated and balanced attack, propelled by Allie Hueckman Allie Hueckman 5'10" | SG Burns | 2021 State OR ’s 22 point first half total and a late Syd Burns drive at the end of the game. They ultimately came up a little short, but showed considerable fight with a team with national attention as they were right there with the Under Armour team based out of Washington.
Things started with a Fulcher find to Lathrop followed by a Burns throw up to Hueckman. McClave steal and find to Burns made it Oregon Elite 6 – 8. Burns began her facilitating efforts, feeding Hueckman alongside the arc for her first three-pointer. Sage Kramer Sage Kramer 6'1" | PG Philomath | 2022 State OR had a very impressive put back where she came from the top of the perimeter to put the ball in. Fulcher finds the loose ball and puts it in as Syd Burns found Hueckman for a beautiful reverse lay-up. Burns threw it up in transition for Hueckman for a triple. A Hueckman mid-range jumper made it Oregon Elite 20 – 25. Starr into Berry followed by McClave pass to Hueckman for three. Fulcher with some nice footing inside followed by a Hueckman mid-range jumper. Hueckman would continue her scoring merits with a triple and a steal leading to a lay-up. At halftime, it was a close arrangement – Oregon Elite 34, NW Blazers 37.
Lathrop board and bucket started the half followed by a Kramer triple that tied it at 38. The second half would find Oregon Elite poking at the lead as Syd Burns began taking over at the end of the half. Burns mid-range and triple kept them in the game as Hassmann had a nice score over some defenders. Hassmann find to Starr for three made it Oregon Elite 47 – 52. Berry scoop shot made it Oregon Elite 51 – 54, this was followed by a Burns drop off to Lathrop. Burns find to Hassmann in transition then Berry to Burns. A Burns find to Starr for three gave Oregon Elite the lead 60 – 58. Burns would keep them in the game, scoring on back to back possessions – tough shots around the rim with excellent footwork. Fruitless possessions for Oregon Elite at the end of the game would have the team fall short – however, it was a back and forth match up until the 2:17 mark where Oregon Elite would last score.

Breakdown:
“Walking Bucket”
Allie Hueckman Allie Hueckman 5'10" | SG Burns | 2021 State OR is an anomaly. The Burns product is a three-sport star who excels at basketball, volley, and track and field. Her uncanny leaping abilities translates to the hardwood exceptionally and is a big component of her game. Hueckman played like it was a video game, as she had numerous sequences where she was scoring on back to back to back possessions, single handedly providing offense for Oregon Elite. She had a 22 point outburst in the first half where she shot three for six alongside the perimeter. Hueckman is not a one-trick pony, she scores in a multitude of ways – through skill points all based on her leaping abilities. She can hang in the air, sink the floater, and sink the mid-range jumper with out of this world consistency.
Syd “The Kid” Burns
Syd is a blur in the open court, where she doesn’t wait for things to happen – she makes them come to fruition. The UC-Davis signee was another foundation for their comeback as she was scoring in the paint and mid-range zone as well as handing out dimes routinely. Her ability to find players in stride is second nature and she makes other players on the court better. Burns is a high motor, electric player that is simply fun to watch and must see TV. She certainly saved one of her best performances of the summer for a loaded NW Blazers squad.
Team Play
Oregon Elite is a network that bases a lot of their strategy on shared success and tough, gritty play. Schuyler Berry Schuyler Berry 6'2" | C Grant | 2021 State OR provided as a rim protector with rebounding instincts as Natalie Lathrop Natalie Lathrop 6'3" | C Tualatin | 2021 State OR was the inside scorer and defender. Cami Fulcher Cami Fulcher 5'8" | PG West Linn | 2021 State OR is the steadfast floor general who rolls up her sleeves and clocks early into work. Sage Kramer Sage Kramer 6'1" | PG Philomath | 2022 State OR catches her opponents by surprise, with quick, witty, innovative play. Dani Starr is the suave and confident scorer who knows her pockets and how to get to them. McClave is the sharpshooter who is an aggressive and determined defender whereas Hope Hassmann adds an extra layer of consistency on the perimeter when she is out on the floor.
