Oregon Elite Gold played a red-eye game as they had an 8:00 AM game with a familiar Northwest adversary in that of Sagebrush. They were sluggish in the early first half as Sagebrush jumped off to a 19-2 lead. Oregon Elite chipped back into the game as they exchanged baskets with their opponent – going into the halftime facing a 16-27 deficit. In the second half, they continued to strike away at the lead as teammates started playing for one another in a selfless brand of basketball. Beaux Bruegman Beaux Bruegman 5'10" | SF Sheldon | 2023 State OR was a catalyst as a rebounder and overall savvy player with the ability to make plays and smart passes.
Gracie Arnold Gracie Arnold 6'1" | PF Cottage Grove | 2022 State OR was another player who was resilient in her attitude as although she didn’t score, she was a force as a rebounder, found players in optimal positions, and was a one person army defensively at the rim. Emi Bishop provided a strong interior option as well as Lindsey Wilson Lindsey Wilson 6'0" | PF Mountainside | 2022 State OR . Newcomer Katelyn Heideman sank two from deep as Sofia Megert Sofia Megert 5'4" | PG South Eugene | 2022 State OR continued to show promise as a sharp and savvy guard. The closest Oregon Elite came was 41-43 which was impressive considering their early slump – however, they couldn’t get past Sagebrush as they lost a close game in a spirited battle in the second half, 45-53.
Gracie Arnold Gracie Arnold 6'1" | PF Cottage Grove | 2022 State OR 2022 6’1″ PF Oregon Elite Gold/Cottage Grove HS – Gracie is a polished all-around forward with a certain tenacity as a rim protector that is difficult to find. She has great timing as a rebounder and shot-blocker and it certainly showed today. Arnold contributed a 6 rebound, 4 assist, 3 block performance where she showed the uncanny ability to turn the shoulder and find a teammate in scoring position.
Katelyn Heideman 2022 5’5″ SG Oregon Elite Gold/Hermiston HS – The Hermiston guard is incredibly accurate and disciplined in her regards as a shooter – but also highly highly accurate. She sank two from three from deep for her 6 point total. Heideman has significant range but never forces up a shot – combined with her ability to sink it from past the arc makes her a tough player for foes to guard.
Sofia Megert Sofia Megert 5'4" | PG South Eugene | 2022 State OR 2022 5’5″ SG Oregon Elite Gold/South Eugene HS – Sofia is an aggressive slashing type who isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint as a rebounder and defender. She grabs loose balls and makes dynamic plays for her club, especially in the transition setting as she is a surprise in the open court. Megert contributed a 6 point, 6 rebound effort for Oregon Elite as a difference maker.
Beaux Bruegman Beaux Bruegman 5'10" | SF Sheldon | 2023 State OR 2023 5’10″ SF Oregon Elite Gold/Sheldon HS – As mentioned previously, Bruegman is also a talented volleyball player for the Sheldon Irish, which can be seen when she is out on the hardwood. She comes up out of nowhere to snag rebounds and has a knack for creating plays with or without the basketball. Bruegman contributed a solid 4 point, 4 rebound, 3 assist, 2 steal effort for Oregon Elite.
Lindesy Wilson 2022 6’0″ PF Oregon Elite Gold/Mountainside HS – Lindsey’s game is incredible throwback and disciplined as the forward makes plays in the paint as a considerable force with a lot of structure and balance. She is productive on the glass and is a relentless scorer as she gets points based on merit and dedication. Wilson produced a 6 point, 9 rebound, 1 steal performance for Oregon Elite.
