Tiir Nyok Tiir Nyok 6'0" | CG NC (G/F, 2022) was wreaking havoc on defense causing deflections and grabbing steals. She was all over the court anticipating passes as if she could predict what the offense was going to do. She runs the floor well and knows how to attack the basket. She hit some important free throws towards the end of the game making sure her team gained the lead. She holds offers from universities like Queens, Campbell, and Wingate.
Someone who scores 1000 points before their junior season should certainly be on your radar. Kennedy Powell Kennedy Powell 6'1" | SF High Point Christian Academy | 2022 NC (PF, 2022) is a big presence inside boxing players out, blocking shots, and grabbing rebounds. She is aggressive with her post moves and has good footwork to move her body around and get the entry pass. Her points off of second chance opportunities showed that she is a hard opponent to box out. She would grab several in a row showing her persistence when it comes to grabbing the ball and keeping the possession. Her length was helpful when it came to grabbing steals. She finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 steals.
In her first high school game, Angel Walker (G, 2024) scored 13 points and had 7 steals, so you knew right away this was going to be a guard you should know about. She runs the floor well and is a terror in transition. She caused deflections on defense creating her own offense. She follows shots in order to grab rebounds and extend the possession for her team or end the possession for her opponents. Her ball handling is already great and at a high speed making it easier for her to adopt to the fast pace of high school basketball. Coaches need to keep an eye on this guard!
Nadiya Hairston (PG, 2023) had great anticipation on defense knowing where to go to cause problems for opposing offenses. Her defense in overtime showed that her hands were all over the ball even when she didn’t have possession. She was one of the main ball headers for High Point controlling the tempo of the game. Her ball handling at the end of the game under a lot of pressure caused her opponents to foul her in a close game. She was able to convert those free throws to extend the lead for her team. She had a balanced stat sheet with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Georgia Walls (G, 2022) was a hustler after every loose ball making sure she had a chance to grab it whether it was going to turn into a steal or grab an errant pass from her teammate. She was constantly active on defense seeming to make it difficult for her opponents. She hit a crucial three pointer in the 4th quarter making sure her team was staying in the game. She was tasked with guarding some of the tougher opponents, and the accolade is certainly earned by her.
