With the season being tipping off in 3 weeks, here’s a look at some players who have to replace the 2020 Miss Basketball nominees.
Ninth Region: [player_tooltip player_id="31803" first="Maddie" last="Scherr"], Ryle -
Ryle is still the reigning and defending state champion and despite graduating Miss Basketball, the Lady Raiders are just reloading with more top talent. [player_tooltip player_id="88421" first="Brie" last="Crittendon"] has already signed with EKU and is likely to lead the Ryle squad on the road back to Rupp. Other players who are expected to step up include Quinn Eubank, [player_tooltip player_id="164392" first="Abby" last="Holtman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="167137" first="Sarah" last="Baker"]. Also don’t sleep on Senior Jaden Crist and Junior Lele Nugyen who was a star at our Top 250 Expo in October.
Tenth Region: [player_tooltip player_id="80494" first="Kennedy" last="Igo"], George Rogers Clark -
Like Ryle, GRC doesn’t lose a ton from their 10th region title team of a year ago. [player_tooltip player_id="164386" first="Brianna" last="Byars"] is a star and [player_tooltip player_id="106139" first="Tyra" last="Flowers"] isn’t far behind her. The crazy thing about the GRC roster is they bring back a ton of experience, including a loaded Junior class.2025 Ciara Byars is another young player with a chance to be a big time player for the Lady Cards in the coming seasons.
Eleventh Region: [player_tooltip player_id="31811" first="Malea" last="Williams"], Scott County -
Without a doubt, it is [player_tooltip player_id="88423" first="Kenady" last="Tompkins"] time to shine for the reigning 11th region champions. After graduating Williams and longtime starter [player_tooltip player_id="80509" first="Morgan" last="DeFoor"] (now at Morehead State) there is a lot of production that needs to be replaced in Georgetown. Kenady and Junior Emma Price are both going to get huge boosts in shot attempts and Sophomore Tyra Young is a candidate for breakout player this season.
Twelfth Region: [player_tooltip player_id="80511" first="Lauren" last="Lee"], Casey County -
No team in the 12th region was hit harder by graduation than Casey County. They lost all 6 of their top scorers from a season ago and will go from one of the most veteran teams in the state last season to being one of the youngest this year. Sophomore Chloe Dunn and Junior forward Brianna Johnson are the top two returners from last season’s team and should have first crack at becoming the newest go-to players for Casey County.
