Jordyn Latter (Providence Day, G, 2023) came out with a fire underneath her fighting for every rebound and following each shot. Her post moves were great inside using spin moves and power dribbles to score. Her drives through the paint were hard to defend. Her backdoor cuts were perfectly timed and executed leading to points for her. If she happened to be jumping where she couldn’t grab the rebound, she did a great job of smacking the ball towards her teammate in order to obtain possession. She was constantly involved on defense somehow grabbing steals or putting pressure on the other team.
Chandler Brooks Chandler Brooks 6'0" | PG 1 of 1 Prep Academy | 2023 State NC (Providence Day, G, 2023) is one of the main ball handlers for Providence Day as she can weave in and out of her opponents with ease. She drove to the basket fighting through contact, and she did an excellent job drawing defenders to her to make a pass to an open teammate. She was patient when letting a play develop and put her passes right where her teammate needed them in order to score. She grabbed rebounds for her team, too, and used those to push the ball up the court in order to score in transition.
Lauren Jensen (Providence Day, G, 2023) has a nice drive to the basket down the middle of the paint showing her ability to blow by her defenders. Her ball handling was great under pressure remaining calm and making sure she set herself up to make a play.
Katy Alexander (Asheville Christian Academy, G, 2023) was a solid contributor on both ends of the court finding ways to pump up her teammates with some old fashioned three point plays showing that her team wasn’t going away. She can drive through any kind of contact. She hustles after every loose ball making sure she has a chance to grab the steal or retain possession. She did the same crashing the boards after every rebound, and she had some nice second chance opportunities off of misses from her teammates. She also had several steals ending the possession for her teammates, and she can certainly push the ball up the court herself.
Emma Larios Emma Larios 5'7" | CG Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 State NC (Asheville Christian Academy, G, 2023) showed off her three point shooting ability making sure the other team knew she was a threat all over the court. Her quick release makes it very hard for her opponents to close out on her before she gets the shot up. She can handle the ball well, too, using her speed to blow by her opponents and find her way to the basket herself. She makes nice passes into her teammates and knows how to draw defenders to her in order to make a pass.
EP Sluder EP Sluder 5'7" | PG Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 NC (Asheville Christian Academy, G, 2023) had her hands all over the place on defense causing deflections and grabbing steals. She was talkative on the court as well telling her teammates where they needed to be or where she was to help them if they needed it. On offense, she can shoot the three as well, and she knows how to drive the ball to the basket fighting through contact.
Aliyah Corpening (Asheville Christian Academy, G, 2023) made sure to be all over the court where her teammates needed her whether she was making a nice dish to her teammates or crashing the boards for a rebound. She pushed the ball up the court always looking for her teammates in transition. She was aggressive handling the ball making decisive moves, and she used her aggressive moves on defense making it difficult for her opponents to get by her.
Elizabeth Harrington (Asheville Christian Academy, G, 2023) showed off her shot from behind the arc igniting some motivation for her team. She grabs rebounds for her team, too, making sure her opponents didn’t get second chance points.
