The 2024 Watchlist is Here!
As the high school season continues, a lot of freshmen are beginning to stand out and make their names known. Of course, by the time we get to 2024 and these players head off to college, a lot of things could change. The watchlist is by no means complete and we expect many players to pop up as the years go by. But, for now, the list is here, and here is a closer look at four players who are standing out above their peers early on.
Taliyah Parker | 6-1 CG | Putnam City West | 2024 | @tparkerhoops24
Putnam City West is loaded with amazing freshmen. So far, it hasn’t panned out with their wins and losses, but the team is going to be absolutely deadly in a few years. Parker has tremendous size for a guard. She plays beyond her years with outstanding vision and tenacious defense that sees her jumping into the passing lane for steals that often lead to fast break chances. On the offensive end, she is a three-level scorer with a gorgeous jump shot. Prior to her first high school game, Taliyah already had offers from UNC, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas and Texas Tech.
Shamar Bert Shamar Bert 5'7" | SG Putnam City West | 2024 State OK | 5-7 SG | Putnam City West | 2024 | @shamarb20
As I said, Putnam City West is going to be a beast. Bert is an outstanding shooter. She has handles and quickness as well as court vision. She is a very good defender. Most importantly, I have seen her play several times and every single time I see something that has improved about her game. She is a student of the game and it really shows. By all accounts she is very coachable and could end up being the most improved out of all of the 2024’s when all is said and done. Bert has an offer from Coach Coale and Oklahoma.
Zya Vann Zya Vann 5'9" | PG Bethany | 2024 State OK | 5-9 PG | Norman | 2024 | @ZyaLiv
Zya has phenomenal handles that she uses to get to the hoop where she finishes strong. She has an outstanding eurostep that makes use of her length. Despite her height, she finds a way to put the ball in the hoop inside. She is still growing and with her handles and ability, Vann is going to be a great one. The daughter of former pro basketball player Bryatt Vann and sister of current OU player Skylar Vann Skylar Vann 5'10" | CG Deer Creek | 2020 State OK , Zya is very knowledgeable about the game and how to use her skills to become a flat-out winner. Vann has an offer from Arkansas State currently with many more D-I offers still to come.
Hannah Coons Hannah Coons 6'2" | PF Kiefer | 2024 State OK | 6-1 SF | Kiefer | 2024 | @coons_hannah
In her first varsity game, Hannah scored 32 points to go along with five blocked shots. Coons is a workout warrior who has been a standout for coach Ruben Diaz and his Shock Hoops squad. She is a great finisher at the hoop and uses her size very well. She is quick and uses her shooting ability to throw her defender off balance and then use tremendous handles to blow by them to the hoop. She has a motor that doesn’t stop and she gets up and down the court a lot easier than most girls over 6-0 do. Coons currently has an offer from D-2 Newman and will see D-I offers coming in over the next few years.
