The class of 2024 has been impressive in the charlotte independent conference. Here is who you should know:
Mila Holloway: The 5’5 point guard from Covenant Day high school has been putting on a clinic. She has proven to be a consistent scorer, averaging over 17 points per game, and putting up 30+ twice already. She has a decent looking shot from 3 already (shooting over 30%), does a good job getting to the free-throw line, and is crafty once in the paint. Don’t let her size fool you either, she is long and athletic, and doing a nice job on the boards. She has tallied a few double-doubles already, including a 14 point and 13 steal performance. She is definitely a player to keep your eyes on over the next couple of years.
Maya McCorkle: The 5’9 wing from Cannon high school has made an immediate impact for the cougars. Another player who has proven to be able to score consistently, she is averaging around 11 points per game. She will continue to get more consistent from 3 point land, but is doing a nice job getting into the paint and finishing. On the defensive end she really makes things happen for her team, in 8 of their games she has had 3+ steals. Playing with the amount of talent and leaders she is around, her game will only elevate. She is someone to watch the rest of this season and career. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Seini Hicks: The 5’11 forward from Cannon high school is a rebounding machine. She is averaging over 10 boards per game, and as a freshman that is nearly unheard of. She is a great athlete, gets off the floor quick, and does a pretty good job of not fouling when she plays. She is doing a nice job in the paint and finishing around the rim. She has tallied 5 double-doubles on the year, including 4 in a row, and a 20 and 23 outing. Just another player to keep your eye on for the next 4 seasons.
Sophie Levine: The 5’7 lefty shooter from Providence Day school is doing her job–shooting the basketball. Shooting well over 30% from 3, she has hit 4 3’s in a game 3 different times. She does a good job getting her feet set and down and has a nice release point. She is doing her job and helping her team get victories. She is a player to watch continue improving her shot and range.
