With the Vikings leading going to the fourth, it was the Bulldogs who came back to win 47-42 at home. Who were some of the top prospects in this contest and how did they perform? Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look.
Meredith Wooten (Princeton guard, 2021)
Meredith Wooten reached a milestone getting to 1,000 career points as a Princeton Bulldog. The senior guard came up big when her team needed it the most in a tight contest. She led all scorers with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. In the final minutes, she hit several crucial free throws to ice the game. Wooten couldn’t be stopped in transition and created a lot of shots for herself and her teammates. Princeton needed every single play from Wooten to get over the line.
Anna Taylor (Princeton guard, 2023)
Kinston threw a lot of different looks at 2023 prospect Anna Taylor, but she still found a way to make an impact. The sophomore guard finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs and although she struggled from the outside, her three with less than three minutes to go put Princeton up for good. Taylor is one of the top prospects in the 2023 class and even when she didn’t have the best offensive output, she made up for it on the defensive end.
Kahlia Hargett (Kinston guard, 2021)
Hargett continues her strong impact on the Vikings after scoring six points and dishing out several assists. She’s composed with the basketball in her hands and makes good decisions while not turning the ball over. On a balanced Kinston team, she’ll be one of their biggest leaders as the season goes on.
Winter Lane (Kinston forward, 2022)
Although it was in defeat, Kinston 2022 forward Winter Lane came up big in the second half for the Vikings. She was held scoreless for the first two quarters, but came out and asserted herself in the paint. Lane hit a couple of clutch baskets in the fourth quarter, to put the Vikings in position to win in the final minutes. If she can be another solid post presence alongside 2021 Kenya Forbes and 2022 Jasmine Cogdell, this Kinston team will be tough to beat.
