2020 has come and gone. Here’s to the hope that this year is better and brighter for all of us. The basketball season has been in full gear and prospects continue to emerge. I would like to highlight some players as we start January. Furthermore, this is a continuation piece from my story the other day. Let’s get into it here in part two... [player_tooltip player_id="244126" first="Emmy" last="Mills"] - Dr. Krop When I visited Dr. Krop in December, 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="244126" first="Emmy" last="Mills"] was still getting her "wind" back beneath her. The 6-foot center has since averaged 9.5 points and 11.5 rebounds for the Lightning. Mills is a key component to Dr. Krop as she is there one true big. In a pair of games against North Miami, Mills scored 20 points and grabbed 34 rebounds. Moreover, 13 of those came on the offensive end. In simplest terms, that is 13 more opportunities for the Lightning to score. The saying is the best time to shoot a three is after an offensive rebound. Well, 2021 Lindsey Weingard is shooting 48 percent from behind the line and averaging 22.9 points per game. The 5-foot-6 combo guard has three or more 3-pointers in six of seven games for Dr. Krop. [player_tooltip player_id="244132" first="Izabella" last="Molina"] - Doral The Firebirds are 7-3 and Molina has been a huge factor. The 6-foot-3 freshman is averaging 10.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game on 55 percent shooting for Doral Academy. Against North Miami, Molina scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Bottom line, averaging a double-double as a freshman is impressive. 2021 Anaira Ayala leads Doral with 19.2 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field. The 5-foot-4 guard scored 27 points and knocked down seven 3-pointers against Miami High. [player_tooltip player_id="243896" first="Jade" last="Jones"] - King’s Academy [player_tooltip player_id="243896" first="Jade" last="Jones"] is averaging a team-best 12.6 points and 3.8 steals per game. The 5-foot-11 small forward is also averaging 6.8 rebounds per game, with about half of that total coming on the offensive end. Jones is an eight grader and has the Lions sitting at 11-2. That is pretty impressive when you combine the two together at that age. Against Wellington, she posted a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds on 57 percent shooting from the field. The Lions also have a pair of players 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="243926" first="Jordan" last="Race"] and 2022 Mo’Nique Joseph averaging in double-figures. The 6-foot Joseph is averaging a team-best 11.4 rebounds per game. This is a nice group up in West Palm Beach to watch out for. [player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] - American Heritage (Delray) [player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] was a player on my radar when I saw the Stallions practice a few months back. The 6-foot power forward has delivered, averaging a team-best 19 points and 11.7 rebounds through seven recorded games. That says a lot when you have 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"], who can score 20 points in her sleep. Against Schoolhouse Prep, Ramsey scored 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on 81 percent shooting from the field. Moreover, she grabbed a ridiculous 22 rebounds against Miami Country Day. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"] has been solid in the backcourt, averaging 11.8 points and 5.6 assists per game. The 5-foot-6 Hession also has four games with seven or more rebounds. Having a guard who can contribute on the glass is always a plus. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="151147" first="Taylor" last="Romano"], a good shooter, is averaging 10.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. [player_tooltip player_id="244128" first="Aspen" last="Johnson"] - Seminole Ridge Here at PGH, we have mentioned the talent of 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="91492" first="Jahnae" last="Midget"]. The 5-foot-11 guard/forward is averaging a team-best 26.3 points per game for the Hawks. Another player to lookout for is 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="244128" first="Aspen" last="Johnson"], who is averaging 21.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The 5-foot-11 guard/forward scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a win over Spanish River in mid-December. Johnson also leads the team in steals (4.0) and is second in assists (4.8) per game. The Hawks sit undefeated at 4-0 thanks to both of them. For any South Florida Prep Girls Hoops news or information...please contact Michael Costeines @Steins_23 on Instagram or follow him on Twitter @Mungertown_Mike23.
