Continue ReadingPrinceton and Rosewood took to the floor in a huge rivalry matchup with Carolina 1-A conference title implications. In the end, the visiting Bulldogs remained undefeated with a 59-28 victory over the Eagles Tuesday. Who were some of the key contributors on both sides of the Seven Mile Showdown? Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look.
Meredith Wooten (Princeton guard, 2021)
Another big performance for 2021 guard Meredith Wooten and this time against a big rival. Wooten recently passed 1,000 career points and added 20 more against the Eagles. Her play on both ends of the floor is part of why the Bulldogs are still undefeated on the season. She makes the right reads at point guard and takes care of the basketball while being a go to scorer for this Princeton team.
Anna Taylor (Princeton guard, 2023)
Anna Taylor continued her strong start to the season as one of the top shooters, and prospects, in the 2023 class. Taylor finished with 19 points against Rosewood and made her presence felt in the first few minutes. She’s the tone setter offensively for this Princeton team and they’ll need her to be the great floor spacer that she is over the next few weeks.
Leonna Nelson (Princeton forward, 2021)
2021 forward Leonna Nelson is a huge x-factor for this Princeton team especially when she’s scoring in the paint. She can also hit mid-range jump shots at an efficient rate making her a really big threat on that end. Defensively, she does the dirty work that doesn’t show up in the scoresheet whether it’s diving on the floor for a loose ball or taking a charge. Nelson is the top rebounder for the Bulldogs and will be a big key to their chances at a deep playoff run.
Skyler Lassiter (Rosewood guard, 2023)
It was a struggle for Rosewood offensively, but Skyler Lassiter was the spark whenever the Eagles got going. She’s a good facilitator and can get to the basket well creating chances for her teammates and herself. Lassiter had eight points to lead the way for Rosewood who is now 2-2 on the season.
