A dominant second and third quarter gave the road team a 39-21 victory. Who were some of the top performers in this contest? Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at the standouts.
A’Shari Watlington (Triton guard, 2024)
Freshman guard A’Shari Watlington is off to an excellent start for Triton with back-to-back double digit scoring performances. She led all scorers with 13 points in the Hawks win over South Johnston and got those points in several different ways. Expect her to be another one of the great 2024 prospects that are all over North Carolina producing well early in the season.
Abby Hood (Triton guard, 2023)
Another young guard that’ll help this Hawks team going forward is 2023 Abbey Hood. She finished with 10 points and shot 50% from the field against the Trojans doing so from three point range and getting to the basket. Triton has a number of guard prospects that could be really successful for this team over the next month.
Tristan Ennis (Triton forward, 2022)
The third of the Triton Hawks trio that played well in this contest is 2022 forward Tristan Ennis. She added eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals for the Hawks playing well on both ends of the floor. In addition to that, she also had a solid performance in their season opener against Smithfield-Selma. With Ennis alongside their talented guard duo, this Harnett County squad has a ton of potential.
Janay McDonald (South Johnston guard, 2021)
South Johnston struggled offensively in this game, but 2021 guard Janay McDonald is usually the Trojans spark plug. She can play multiple positions and can score the basketball at will for this squad as they look to compete in the Greater Neuse conference. Expect her to be one of the top players in Johnston County during 2021.
