1. Lake Highland Prep (11-0)
LHP didn’t have a game this week, but they’ll face a gritty Colonial team on Friday for a strong Orlando matchup. This team is prepared to repeat this year if they can play like we know they are capable of.
2. Montverde (16-1)
MVA really cemented themselves as the #2 team in the state with 3 impressive wins this week. They did face a Palm Bay team that was without both of their seniors ([player_tooltip player_id="91490" first="Mikyla" last="Tolivert"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91508" first="Emani" last="Burks"]), but they got the job done after a quick start by Palm Bay. The Eagles had an impressive first half against Plant, and fought off a comeback in the second half behind [player_tooltip player_id="145091" first="Mariana" last="Valenzuela"] who was dynamite this week. [player_tooltip player_id="145093" first="Niveya" last="Henley"] and [player_tooltip player_id="219954" first="Fatima" last="Diakhate"] both had big weeks as well. The most recent game against Jones started with a huge halftime lead that Montverde coasted on as Jones tried to push back and make it a respectable final score. They’ll have their work cut out for them tonight against the other deepest team in Florida, Central Pointe.
Week 10 Results: W vs. Palm Bay (59-50), W vs. Plant (59-49), W vs. Jones (56-48)
3. American Heritage Plantation (15-2-1)
The Patriots are another team who really cemented their spot in these rankings. They got up big in the first quarter against Plant and took a sizeable lead into the break. Plant used a strong third quarter to get them back into the game, but AH is just too talented. [player_tooltip player_id="91566" first="Joey" last="Delancy"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91557" first="Sydney" last="Shaw"] showed out against two of Tampa’s best teams this weekend, and they both are a big reason why AH Plantation is even better this year as a favorite to go for a four-peat.
Week 10 Results: W vs. Archbishop McCarthy (60-25), W vs. Seffner Christian (71-41), W vs. Plant (42-32)
4. Blanche Ely (11-0-1)
Ely dominated two pretty mediocre teams this week by putting up an average of 81.5 points per game. This team can get the ball up and down the floor, and they have a number of players that can score it with ease. They have an intriguing rematch with Westminster on Tuesday with Ely winning the first contest by 7 points.
Week 10 Results: W @ Northeast (79-19), W vs. Deerfield Beach (84-34)
5. Winter Haven (11-0)
Winter Haven picked up their best win of the year against Bishop Kenny. They did it behind a massive 30 point performance by [player_tooltip player_id="91537" first="Trinity" last="Hardy"]. She did it efficiently, too (10-16 from the field, 3 for 3 from behind the arc, and 7 for 8 from the charity stripe). The Lady Blue Devil’s will have a huge test on Saturday against Montverde.
Week 10 Results: W @ Lake Gibson (71-30), W vs. Bishop Kenny (77-66)
6. Central Pointe (20-1)
CPCA becomes the first team in Florida to hit the 20-win mark. They still haven’t lost to a team in Florida, and they have a number of wins against teams in the top 50 in Florida. This week, they only allowed an average of 32 points per game. Central Pointe will have their biggest test of the year against Montverde tonight.
Week 10 Results: W @ The Rock (76-29), W @ IMG Academy (49-35)
7. Braden River (9-4)
Once again, a week without [player_tooltip player_id="91479" first="O’Mariah" last="Gordon"] leads to undesirable results. It sounds like she will be healthy come postseason. They still have some decent pieces without her, but they move from a top 50 to a top 10 team when she is healthy.
Week 10 Results: W vs. Booker (49-38), L @ Fort Myers (73-51)
8. Plant (17-3)
The Panthers had two losses this week, but their ranking didn’t move since it was against the #2 and #3 teams in the state. [player_tooltip player_id="91489" first="Kendal" last="Cheesman"] averaged a strong 17.3 ppg and 11.3 rpg this week. The team didn’t shoot the ball as well as they would have liked to, but they still stayed within striking distance of two phenomenal teams. [player_tooltip player_id="145094" first="Nyla" last="Jean"] and [player_tooltip player_id="166173" first="Tanner" last="Strickland"] are two of the feistiest guards I’ve seen this year, and they both play some really tough D. I think this weekend was good for Plant, and they will learn and move on from these tough losses to ultimately become a tougher team for when it matters most.
Week 10 Results: W vs. Chamberlain (59-21), L vs. Montverde (59-49), L vs. American Heritage Plantation (42-32)
9. Palm Bay (16-3)
Palm Bay played well against MVA for not having their two seniors on the court. They got out to a big lead, but couldn’t hold on against a terrific opponent. [player_tooltip player_id="91638" first="Emma" last="Risch"] didn’t have her best game shooting, but she finished with 19 points and 8 boards. [player_tooltip player_id="166170" first="Alonya" last="Waldon"] also added 10 points and 6 assists in the loss. They have a couple winnable games to finish out the year, but that Cocoa matchup should be a good one.
Week 10 Results: L @ Montverde (59-50), W vs. Titusville (76-28)
10. Dunbar (19-0)
There is a good chance that Dunbar could end the regular season undefeated after beating Fort Myers again. The Tigers did a good job of slowing down and defending a tough Green Wave team. [player_tooltip player_id="244185" first="Corbria" last="Crawford"], [player_tooltip player_id="91526" first="Aaliyah" last="Williams"], and [player_tooltip player_id="91518" first="Luxury" last="Vance"] all had impressive games to beat Ft. Myers for another quality W. Dunbar hasn’t been tested like Blanche Ely, Braden River, Wekiva, etc. have been this year, so we will see how that plays a role in the postseason.
Week 10 Results: W @ Fort Myers (58-47)
Next Five: Westminster (11-3), FSU High (12-2), DME (13-3), Wekiva (16-3), Miami Country Day (14-3)
