Bigs to watch

In today’s basketball, the center position has changed, but having a dominate post player is very valuable. In this post we look at power forwards and centers.

[player_tooltip player_id="183843" first="Michaela" last="O’Neil"], North North, position C, Ht 5-11, Class senior

Michaela is a stat machine, raking up the double doubles, averaging 13 points and 12 rebounds last year for the Tigers. Michaela is an athletic Big, and can back down people in the post. For a big, Michaela is one of the more athletic bigs. Michaela also has the ability to step out and hit a mid range shot or 3. On defense in the post, Michaela does a good job of playing straight up with out fouling.

Maddie Forman, Natick, Ht 6-2, class sophomore.

Maddie is a true Center. A center who does what centers do. Maddie backs down people in the post and gets after it on the board. Maddison box’s out hard and had 22 rebounds in one game. Maddison is a physical dominant player.

Kayla Cunningham, Bishop Feehan, Ht 6-1, position PF/C, Class senior

Kayla is a versatile big. Kayla can post up, but is also a threat from 3. Kayla has a nice drop step post move. She is very hard working. I like the way Kayla catches the ball high in the post and doesn’t bring it down. With kayla’s ability to stretch the floor she is a tough matchup to guard.

Catie Hurley, Walpole, position PF/Center HT 6-0. Class sophomore

Catie has been on varsity since freshman year. Catie can run the floor and score in the post. Catie a strong post player and aggressive.

[player_tooltip player_id="184002" first="Chinenye" last="Odenigbo"], Norwood, HT 6-6, Position C, Class sophomore.

At 6-6 CHINENYE is a huge body, and usually the biggest player on the court. With her height her potentially is so high. She isn’t the most athletic player, and would improve if she got a little quicker. She is a force in the paint, and on the boards. For her size she has decent touch around the rim. If she continues to improve I think she could play at the d1 level.
