There are several that have started their season with a bang and it’s helped their teams succeed. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at five 2024 prospects that’ve been flying under the radar this year.
Ariyona Spearman (Union guard, 2024)
Freshman guard Ariyona Spearman is off to a hot start this season after recording back-to-back 30-point games to begin the 2021 season. She had 31 points on 11-22 shooting in her debut and followed it with a 39-point performance, both coming against Rosewood. Spearman is a knockdown shooter and excellent ball handler for the Spartans. Expect her to be a big part of this program going forward as they look to build on a good start.
Kyrah Davis (Goldsboro guard, 2024)
Kyrah Davis has walked into the Goldsboro Cougars program and made an instant impact this year. Davis leads the Cougars in scoring at just under 15 points per game and rebounding a 4.4 per contest. Thanks to her stellar play, they’ve already surpassed their conference win total from a year ago and they’re one win away from equaling last years overall total. She’s a three level scorer who plays excellent defense especially on-ball and comes through when her team needs it the most.
Kamea Davis (Corinth Holders wing, 2024)
Corinth Holders has a promising wing prospect in freshman Kamea Davis. She’s been a stellar addition to the Pirates team and her athleticism provides mismatches her team can exploit. Davis is averaging close to a double double through her teams first five contests against really good competition. Two of her biggest games came against county rival Clayton as they completed the season sweep. Look for her to be a big part of the Pirates going forward.
Solana Jenkins (Clayton wing, 2024)
Clayton also has a promising wing prospect in freshman Solana Jenkins. At 6’1″, she’s got excellent footwork and can guard multiple positions for the Comets. She’s already been a key contributor so far this season on a team with conference title aspirations. Jenkins is certainly one to watch in Johnston County this season and in future years.
Jahzara Gundy (Cleveland guard, 2024)
Cleveland has several freshman prospects making a big impact this season including Jahzara Gundy. She’s a solid facilitator and a really good set shooter that spaces the floor for the Rams. Although she comes off the bench, her impact goes beyond the statistics for this Cleveland team. Expect her to be a big part of this program going forward.
