There are several that have started their season with a bang and it’s helped their teams succeed. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at five more 2024 prospects that’ve been flying under the radar this year.
Zamareya Jones (North Pitt guard, 2024)
Most people expected Zamareya Jones to shine as soon as she got to the high school level, and she’s certainly done so. In her first eight games, she’s averaging 21 points, five assists and two steals per contest on a team that’s gone 7-1. From the basketball IQ to the high level competitiveness, Jones brings a lot to the table and her play netted two D-1 offers before she even played a game. More offers will role in for her over the next few months and she’ll be a great player for the North Pitt Panthers.
Krystal Haddock (Conley guard, 2024)
Krystal Haddock has flown under the radar this season, but she’s made a huge impact for the Conley Vikings so far. She’s the second leading scorer on the team and has her squad position to win the conference title. Haddock is a great prospect on both ends of the floor and gives this Conley team a great chance to make a big run through the state playoffs. Expect this standout freshman to be another one of the many great guards Conley has produced over the years.
A’Shari Watlington (Triton guard, 2024)
The abundance of 2024 guard prospects in Eastern NC continues with Triton freshman A’Shari Watlington. She’s one of the top players in Harnett County and plays on a Hawks squad that’s 7-1 on the season. Watlington can facilitate well and always plays consistently good for Triton. Her performance down the stretch of the season will help determine if the Hawks can reach the state playoffs.
Keshiya Rhodes (Riverside guard, 2024)
Keshiya Rhodes is another instant impact freshman that’s leading her team in multiple categories. The Riverside guard leads the team in points per game with 13 and rebounds per game at just under eight. She’s also tops in assists (three), steals (three), and blocks (one) per contest as a ninth grader in a tough conference. With Rhodes at the helm, don’t be surprised if the Knights make a deep postseason run in the near future.
Serenity McNair (Greenfield guard, 2024)
Although Serenity McNair is a freshman, she’s been playing varsity basketball at Greenfield since seventh grade. However, she’s really become a force offensively as a scorer and a passer for the Knights. McNair leads the team in points and assists per contest and is part of why Greenfield could make a run at a state championship this season.
