The rematch on Seton’s home court the Mustang’s looked to make a statement after the loss on their home court a week earlier. “Senior Night” for the Roadrunners and an interesting start as McNamara gave up a ceremonious bucket to Seton’s senior Kennedy Bankett, who exited the game after her left handed layup as her right arm was in a cast. This was a great show of sportsmanship that both coaches and the WCAC should be proud of. No advantage to either team as Seton returned the favor and gave BMac an uncontested lay in to [player_tooltip player_id="51136" first="Taylor" last="Gibson"] for a 2-2 score and the official start of competition.
The Mustangs used a fast pace offense and full court pressure on defense to take a 9-2 lead before senior [player_tooltip player_id="137239" first="Regina" last="Walton"] hit a 3 pointer to stop the run. At the half the Mustangs enjoyed a 46-21 lead as they cruised to a 83-57 victory.
Standout players:
[player_tooltip player_id="238689" first="Madisen" last="McDaniel"] - 5’8 - Point Guard - Bishop McNamara
Maddie for the most part looked like the best player on the court for either team. The freshman had great control of the flow of the game and was able to take over while creating opportunities for others.
[player_tooltip player_id="137208" first="Gia" last="Cooke"] - 5’9” - Combo Guard - Bishop McNamara
Gia originally started her high school career at Seton and no doubtably wanted to make an impact in the game. That she did as she showed her ability to attack in transition. She finished well in traffic even after drawing contact.
[player_tooltip player_id="136416" first="Abby" last="Carter"] - 5’7” - Guard - Elizabeth Seton
Abby showed a good mid range shot and the ability to hit the long ball. She showed the willingness to rebound and defend in the post.
[player_tooltip player_id="142828" first="Qadence" last="Samuels"] - 6’2” - Wing - Bishop McNamara
Qadence was aggressive on the boards and was able to use her length to be disruptive inside. She ran the floor really well which gave her multiple opportunities on the break. Her height and length made her effective at each position.
[player_tooltip player_id="142823" first="Sahnya" last="Jah"] -6’2" - Wing - Bishop McNamara
Sahnya came off the bench to make her presence felt. She looked good attacking the basket from the high post and the wing. Her activity force a lot of rotations on defense to free up other players whether she took the shot or not.
