Despite a late rally from the home team, the visiting Falcons completed the season sweep with a 49-44 win. Who were some of the top performers in this conference rematch? Prep Girls Hoops NC breaks it down.
A"mari Palmer (South Central guard, 2023)
A"mari Palmer couldn’t be stopped from distance especially in the first half. The standout sophomore knocked down four triples in the first two quarters and finished with 17 points. While she didn’t hit a field goal in the second half, she stepped up and knocked down some crucial free throws down the stretch. Palmer continues to play well this season for the Falcons.
Kayla Smith (South Central guard, 2022)
Another solid performance for 2022 guard Kayla Smith in this contest racking up 13 points for the Falcons. She’s one of the more consistent performers in Pitt County on both ends of the floor. Smith is a three level scorer and a great facilitator for this South Central team and they’ll need her to play big down the stretch.
Katlyn Parrish (C.B. Aycock forward, 2021)
Katlyn Parrish continues to have an excellent season for the Golden Falcons as one of the top prospects in Wayne County. The senior forward is a great passer and ball-handler for her size and she excels as a point forward. Parrish can step out and hit outside shots to stretch the floor for her team. Any chance of the postseason rides on her ability to be the go to option down the stretch.
Destiny Mason (C.B. Aycock guard, 2023)
Although the numbers don’t say it, Destiny Mason had an impact on this game especially in the final two quarters. She hit some key baskets down the stretch and took the challenge defensively against really good guard play from South Central. Mason is a promising player on this Golden Falcons squad and she’ll have a bigger role next season.
