Evangelia Paulk Evangelia Paulk 6'0" | SG Asheville | 2023 State NC | Asheville High | G | 2023
Paulk has some nice length to her that she uses to get inside and fight for her points. She has no fear of going up against contact driving the ball to the basket, and she can put up some floaters over her opponents. She runs the floor well making sure she is available in transition scoring fast break points. She is constantly moving on the court making cuts and being ready to put the ball through the hoop. On defense, her hands seem to cause problems deflecting passes, grabbing steals, and causing blocks.
Emma Larios Emma Larios 5'7" | CG Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 State NC | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2023
Larios is a threat on both ends of the court. She is a terror on defense constantly picking the pocket of her opponents whether they are dribbling the ball or holding onto it. She finds ways to the basket no matter who is in front of her weaving in and out of defenders and pushing the ball up the court. She has a nice shot from all over the court including making three point buckets. Scoring isn’t her only strength as she is a passing guard looking for her teammates moving into position to score.
Gracie Smith | Asheville High | G | 2023
Smith does a great job creating her own offense by grabbing steals and pushing them up the court in the other direction. Her defense on the perimeter is aggressive making it difficult for opponents to get a play going. Fast break points aren’t the only way she can score as she can shoot well from behind the three point line. She knows exactly where to move without the ball in order to catch the pass and release it quickly for the shot.
Katie Alexander Katie Alexander 5'7" | CG Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 NC | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2023
Alexander is someone who seems to be in the right position at the right times. She moves well without the ball finding the open areas on the court to show off her shot. She slides into the right spots on the court around the arc to show off her three point shooting ability. She has a nice midrange jump shot as well moving around her opponents making moves to create separation. She can handle the ball herself, too, pushing it up the court with speed.
EP Sluder EP Sluder 5'7" | PG Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 NC | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2023
Sluder is aggressive when handling the ball looking for ways to push it up the court, and she has some nice moves to create separation from her opponents. Her vision of the court is certainly an asset as she led her high school team in steals and assists this season. She can score herself even fighting through contact to get her points. Her three point shooting ability is another strength of hers.
Aliyah Corpening | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2023
Corpening may be a guard, but she is certainly someone who brings a physical aspect to playing defense, and she uses her strength to grab rebounds. Her aggressive moves translate well to offense as she can certainly fight to get to the basket, find an open teammate, or show off her shot from behind the arc. She moves well all over the court making sure she is right where her teammates need her to be with every possession.
India Smith | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2024
Smith came poised to contribute even at such a young age. She finds various ways of scoring using her length to get to the basket and score over opponents. She doesn’t show any fear when going up against contact either. She has great vision of the court finding her open teammates and understanding where the play should be developing in order for her team to score. Her length is an issue on defense as her hands cause deflections and steals preventing her opponents from scoring.
Sara Larios | Asheville Christian Academy | G | 2025
As an 8th grader, Larios racked up quite a bit of minutes playing varsity basketball. She already has a commanding presence about her running the point guard position. Ball handling isn’t her only strength as she can score from all three levels. Watching her play, she knows the importance of timing as she shows her moves and jumps into gaps on defense at just the right time.
