Shayana Portee | FBC Carolinas Elite Hall White | 2021
Portee is a tenacious defender making sure guards can’t get by her. On offense, she controls the tempo of the game making sure her teammates know where to go when letting a play develop. She follows shots going after rebounds. She does a great job penetrating the paint to find her open teammate after the defenders are drawn toward her. She scored some old fashioned three point plays battling through contact on fast breaks.
Laney Beale | FBC Carolinas Elite 17U Adams | 2022
Beale (pictured above) is an excellent ball handler weaving her way in and out of her opponents. She showed off her shot from behind the arc as well displaying her list of threats. She even crashes the boards grabbing rebounds, and she takes it the other direction. She had a nice spin move to a reverse layup showing her versatility with the ball, and there were multiple occasions that she seemed to put her defenders on skates. She was patient when letting plays develop, and she knew when to turn on the speed to blow by her opponents. On defense, she knows how to jump into passing lanes to push the ball the other direction. She finished with 22 points in a close game against Team Carolina including hitting 4 three pointers.
Tayshia Andrews | Charlotte Dream Elite 2024 | 2024
Andrews is an excellent ball handler controlling the tempo of the game and running plays as they should. She lets them develop to the end goal, and that can sometimes end with her showing off her own three point shooting ability. She sees the floor well penetrating the paint and scooping it to her teammates for the score. She moves with speed handling the ball moving from end to end with ease blowing by her opponents. She follows shots to grab rebounds, too.
Emerson Thompson Emerson Thompson 5'9" | CG Falls Lake Academy | 2024 State NC | Lady Strong 2024 | 2024
Thompson can score well inside using her ball handling moves to get by her opponents. She runs the floor well immediately releasing on fast breaks to get the pass from her teammates. She shows no fear of contact even finishing with some old fashioned three point plays, and she can certainly score three from behind the arc. She can grab steals, and she knows how to put up a shot even when you think a play may have broken down.
Kaylee Carson Kaylee Carson 5'8" | PG Independence | 2024 State NC | Carolina Flames 16U EYBL | 2024
Carson was turning defense to offense by grabbing steals and pushing it to the other end of the court. She made remarkable one handed passes up the court threading the needle between her opponents to find its destination. She tracks the ball well getting back in transition and even showed off her ability to block shots.
