2022
Desiree Penny-5’5 CG Oklahoma Chaos 2022 (Union HS)
I don’t have a Rolls Royce truck with the windows untinted yet this Penny dropped a lot of dimes yesterday, well she dropped a lot of baskets as well, and the way she did both was the impressive part because she pushes the ball in transition and can see the floor going full speed, the acronym I use for that is SWB, speed with ball so making passes on the money or dropping the “stop and pop” jumper were, how can I say this “on the money” pun intended
Mia Thomas-5’4 SG (Houston Queens Elite 2022) Summer Creek HS
Thomas has shown me something numerous times this season in multiple events and that s the fact that she can “shoot the ball” and her range is unlimited as I’ve seen her hit numerous buzzer beaters from at least 30 feet, including one right before halftime yesterday but she does a god job creating her shot and has a deceptive first step which enables her to attack strongly so defenders are sometimes guessing
2023
Micayla Silas-5’9 SG (Unity Basketball 2023-1)Seymour HS
Silas mixes it up on the offensive end nicely and watching her create her shot under pressure over and over from afar had me move a little closer and she not only attacked the basket from multiple angles, but she also finished strongly, and that “floata” was really nice, so was the pull-up jumper in transition as well as watching er drop the mid to long-range jumper
Shellie Zambie-5’7 G (Platinum Basketball 2023 Jones) Plano West HS
Zambie definitely has a stroke and seeing her create her shot while being tightly guarded or coming off of picks, the form and release stayed the same, and speaking of her release, it’s quick and her shot was accurate but on top of all that, her ability to “catch and shoot” was a definite bright spot so when she attacked the rim and finished with both hands, that was the icing on the cake
2024
Terrielle Clark-5’6 G (FBC Nightmares 2023-1) Terry Parker HS
Clark just goes hard on both ends and I’m even more impressed with what she did as I look at the roster and see that she’s a freshman. Intensity on both ends always grabs me, and the things that she added, playing the passing lane, on-ball defense as well as understanding how to trap are elements to players games I really enjoy but so was her taking defenders off the dribble, her first step is solid and she showed she could knock the jumper down, either creating it in the half-court or the stop and pop in transition
Londyn Oliphant Londyn Oliphant 5'6" | PG Sachse | 2024 State TX -5’6 PG (Platinum Basketball 2023 Walker) Sasche HS
Oliphant had me going both on and off the court and listening to her break the game just had me smile and took me back to the first time I saw her play. Two things I said back then “all bets are off” and “she’s showing #BCS signs right now” while she was in the 6th grade made me smile even more as I watched her exploding on the court playing the passing lane, attacking the rim and knocking shots down from everywhere yet her ballhandling can be dazzling, so is her ability to “see the floor” and get others involved
