There are always top performers in every state throughout the high school season especially in West Virginia. Listed below are the top eight girls from class “A” who had the best seasons.
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="153382" first="Kaylea" last="Baisden"] - Tug Valley - 2022 - Guard</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Tug Valley’s junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="153382" first="Kaylea" last="Baisden"] had a great junior season. Averaging a little more than 17 points per contest along with 7 assists and 6 steals a game. Baisden is a hot hand from behind the arc, she could fit in as a shooting guard. With the Panthers, she controls the game though as the ball handler. She attacks the rim very aggressively to get good looks inside and create opportunities for her teammates.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="153421" first="Sydney" last="Baird"] - Webster County - 2023 - Guard</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The leading scorer in the whole state was Webster County’s sophomore guard, [player_tooltip player_id="153421" first="Sydney" last="Baird"]. Baird averaged 30.9 points per game and added 6.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 7.3 steals. Baird’s strongest skill is her pull-up off the dribble. She is a huge fan of the pick and roll game creating space to knock down her shot.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="153404" first="Josie" last="Montgomery"] - Calhoun County - 2022 - Guard</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="153404" first="Josie" last="Montgomery"] of Calhoun County led her team into the State Tournament semifinals. Montgomery averaged 20.3 points per game in her junior campaign. The guard is a deep threat with her high arcing shot. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Tucker County’s 6’1 Center is one you want to watch. The sophomore averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds a game. [player_tooltip player_id="153432" first="Kadie" last="Colebank"] takes advantage of her size inside, grabbing tons of rebounds and backing down defenders.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="153359" first="Lilli" last="Neely"] - Cameron - Cameron - 2021 - Guard</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Cameron Senior [player_tooltip player_id="153359" first="Lilli" last="Neely"] helped lead the Dragons to Charleston. Making their way to the Championship. Neely averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game during her senior year. Neely favors finding gaps in defenses to get the open shot. She is a catch-and-shoot type of player.</span>
<b>Ashlynn Van Tassell - Cameron - 2024 - Center</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Cameron’s inside presence comes from their freshman center. Ashlynn Van Tassell standing at 6’0 could be one to reckon. Van Tassell averaged 15.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per game in her freshman season. Her towering size gets her great looks inside.</span>
<b>Makayla May - Tug Valley - 2021 - Center</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Tug Valley’s inside game comes from Makayla May. The senior center helped the Panthers win the “A” State Title. May averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds in her final season. The thing that impressed the most with May is she could step out and hit some short-ranged jumpers. Everything wasn’t just in close finishes.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="153408" first="Carrah" last="Ferguson"] - Gilmer County - 2022 - Guard</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Gilmer County had some early season worries as they were without leader [player_tooltip player_id="153400" first="Trinity" last="Bancroft"]. For Gilmer County, it was who was going to step up? Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="153408" first="Carrah" last="Ferguson"] filled that role perfectly. 5’7 Ferguson averaged 16 points per contest and helped the Titans maintain another solid season.</span>
