Continue ReadingThe ’25 class is utterly ridiculous when it comes to talent. Up and down this list, you will find players who have super high ceilings and are budding with potential. To be consistent with the previous rankings, I am basing this list on who I feel has been the most impactful this spring. Although many players may project to be better players down the road, to be fair, I grade based on what I have seen from March until now, whether it be in the gym or on livestream. What will make this group fun to follow going forward is that they are so young, we have no idea how good these prospects will be or know when they will make that huge developmental leap. Below are the 5 players who have been the most impactful thus far.
#5
Bailey Breen Bailey Breen 6'2" | PF Oceanside | 2025 State New E – Maine Firecrackers/Oceanside – 6’2’’ – PF
Breen is unique because her post defense is second to none regardless of class. She is as strong as an ox, and players struggle getting position on the block against her. I have not seen anyone win more one-on-one matchups consistently on defense than Breen. She is also the only post defender who does not need a guard or wing to double down or dig. She holds her own on defense, allowing the perimeter defenders on the Firecrackers to stay home and smother the opposition on the outside. Breen is an excellent defensive anchor who does not have the eye-popping athletic or shot-blocking ability. She possesses toughness, strength, and discipline; and she is fundamentally sound so she can protect the paint without fouling. Breen can stretch the floor with her smooth three-point shot and has great touch around the basket on offense. Breen is a force on defense and is a crucial part of the Firecrackers’ offense. From the handful of games that I have seen, her play has been one of the biggest difference-makers for her team.

Christina Pham Christina Pham 5'7" | PG Noble & Greenough | 2025 State New E – Shooting Touch/Noble & Greenough – 5’7’’ – PG
Pham is the most skilled and polished guard in the class. Her offensive repertoire is impressive, and she can get to the basket with ease using an assortment of head fakes, change of speed, and fancy footwork. Pham is an elite shooter who does not hesitate to launch three-pointers. Besides her scoring potency, Pham is one of the best offense initiators I have witnessed. Her IQ is off the charts, and what I like most about Pham is that she is cognizant of when to be selfish and create for herself and when to scan the floor and make a play for her teammates. Some of Pham’s passes off her penetration are mind-blowing, and I do not understand how she sees these windows to throw in; and the passing accuracy is tremendous. On both sides of the ball, Pham is fundamentally sound and mentally is way beyond her years. The way Pham can control a game, she will continue to knock on the door of a top 3 spot.

Ava Black Ava Black 5'11" | CG Tabor Academy | 2025 State New E – Bay State Jaguars/Tabor – 5’10’’ – CG
Black is a big strong guard who is terrific on both sides of the ball. Her attention to detail and reaction time on defense are two reasons she is such an excellent weak-side defender. She has also shown the ability to dig in when guarding the ball and force many turnovers by pickpocketing the ball handler. Black can play off the ball and be a go-to scorer on the wing. Her slashing and ability to knife through the defense and get to the hoop are top-notch, leading to crafty finishes, or Black initiates contact and draws a foul. As big of a threat that Black is off the ball, I think she is best fit running the point for the Jaguars. When she is the primary facilitator, the Jaguars are most dangerous because Black is an excellent passer. Her unselfishness does not go unnoticed, and she does a great job getting everyone involved and maximizing the talent around her. The ’25 Jags team is loaded with elite talent, but no one can play on and off the ball consistently at a high level the way Black can.
A few plays from @SelectEventsBB this past weekend. Had some fun and getting ready for @PRIMEeventBBall this upcoming weekend in Texas! #thePRIMEevent @LaurieBollin @BayStateJags @JagsRecruiting @tiffrod45 @BashHoopsNE @PGHNewEngland @PBRhoops @willbecker9597 pic.twitter.com/2jID3ZjDxF

Maysen Hill Maysen Hill 5'11" | PG St. Andrews | 2025 State New E – Bria Holmes Elite/St. Andrew’s – 5’11’’ – CG
Hill’s defensive versatility is flat-out insane. She can lock up point guards and play elite defense on positions 2-4 also. Her instincts are out of this world, and Hill’s anticipation in passing lanes leads to fastbreak opportunities where Hill excels the most. At 5’11’’ with a tight handle, length, and athleticism, Hill is a nightmare charging at you in the open court. Not only is she virtually unstoppable finishing at the rim, but she also sees the floor well and will drop down beautiful passes for easy points. Hill’s shooting has improved this spring, and when I last saw her was confidently ripping three-pointers 2-3 feet behind the line. With her perimeter game steadily developing, Hill can become the most dynamic two-way player in her class.

Kaelyn Carroll Kaelyn Carroll 6'2" | SF Tabor Academy | 2025 State New E – Bay State Jaguars/Tabor – 6’2’’ – SF
What is there to not like about Carroll? She has a long 6’2’’ athletic frame, runs the floor well, has good hands, and a jump shot that players would kill to have. What is most impressive about Carroll is her feel for the game and basketball IQ. Her understanding of timing, spacing, and knowing where to be at all times is remarkable for a ’25. Carroll’s basketball knowledge is a big reason she can fit in so well with the Bay State Jaguars’ top team. She is fearless, mentally tough, and has made many contributions to the team towards the end of the spring. What is crazy about Carroll playing up on the top team is that it truly is the best fit for her growth and development. I have seen her play with the ’25 Jaguars team who play up in the ’24 division, and Carroll doesn’t break a sweat. Pull up mid-range jumpers, rim running for easy layups, and her point guard ball-handling ability are too advanced; and right now, no one comes close to dominating a game the way she can. For the foreseeable future, Carroll is the consensus #1 player in the region.
@Kaelyn_Carroll just keeps getting better and showed it in Philly @SelectEventsBB this weekend. Let’s get it K! @tiffrod45 @LaurieBollin @BayStateJags @JagsRecruiting @PGHNewEngland @BashHoopsNE @Sue_Carroll20 @carroll_ej pic.twitter.com/4XS4RtP9pG
