It’s been a pleasure watching Maysen play the game over the last year or so. Her game was striking at first glance due to her long and athletic build as a primary ball handler. One of the top tier downhill attackers that’s a hassle to matchup against in transition.
The Fordham commit scored her 1000th point the other night. Her dominant playstyle plus versatile qualities have been prosperous for Saint Andrew’s and nothing short of dazzling. The South Kingston, RI native has been one of the state’s talents at the lead guard spot. What an asset Hill has been.

Maysen’s dynamic game makes her a variable factor for a tough Saint Andrew’s squad night in and night out. In their recent showdown with NMH, Hill was the team’s leading scorer with 14 points. The team was struggling to get going through periods of the game, but Maysen’s play was a shining aspect. Her long and athletic frame, coupled with crafty misdirection moves allowed her to get to her spots on resistant defense. Hill has had a few constructive games recently, including a 19-point, 3 steal game that led Saints to a big win vs New Hampton.

Maysen is a top 10-point guard in a loaded class full of floor generals which speaks to her talent level. Hill’s game comes easy to her by using her speed in combination with her length. She is one of the best at pushing the pace and keeping defenders backpedaling. There aren’t too many players with more speed in a straight line with the ball in her hands. Maysen’s control over the game is very influential and she will be a great addition for Fordham.

is the next iteration of point guards. A long and athletic mismatch that can play in both transition and in the half court at a fast pace and high level. Hill was dazzling in play this weekend. She was a dual threat in the couple of games watched. She was playing smothering defense and a heavy offensive factor throughout. Maysen knocked down shots from way beyond the 3-point line and was in attack mode from the very start of the game and throughout in a game vs GTS Fusion. She was knocking down shots seamlessly and hitting long range shots with consistency within the offense. Hill was very surprising with her defensive capabilities this game. She was closing the gap on ball handlers with her long arms and making stops at will. Maysen was able to get her hand on a bunch of balls defensively by getting up on the ball handler and applying pressure them. She was denying entry passes and checks all cutters coming across. A deceptively quick defender that has quick hands, long strides and can turn her hips. Maysen keeps her head on a swivel so she can make plays on the ball to get in transition. Hill was elite on the break, but what was astounding was her ability to rebound the ball in traffic as a point guard and push the pace to go coast to coast for a bucket. Maysen is a stellar player all around that is a ton of fun to watch.

Maysen has so much talent, but makes it look easy when she’s out there. It’s ironic because her game is flawless, especially in transition. She pushes the pace, putting the pressure on the defense and making her opponents have to react to what she’s doing. Maysen is always probing looking to attack the defense and not allowing the backline to set up.
Watching her over the weekend vs. Putnam Science Academy she showed exactly why she is a highly sought after scholarship player. She faced a tenacious backcourt from PSA who never backed down. Hill constantly had the defense of PSA on their heels and was a constant factor all through the game. Maysen has one speed and that’s fast, she was getting to all her spots making this an up and down game, which is where she thrives. Maysen was finishing tough layups over 6ft+ players and dicing through the lane and finding her many shooters spread on the floor. What makes Hill most impressive is the amount of pressure she can put on a defense by being a dual threat as a scorer and playmaking, with her ability to be able to make just about any pass on the floor on the move.

Hill is a very skilled player, with a good all around skill set. She is a true threes level scorer and has a lot of potential. She can score in the lane off one or 2 feet, and also shoots the ball well from the outside. She finishes with both hands, and I have seen her make tough finishes at the rim. She plays with high energy for the entire game long, and just never slows down. Hill is still young but is on track to be a scholarship level player.
