Over 100 girls were there to showcase their skills, improve their skills, and also receive information on the process of recruiting. Below are a couple of sophmores, freshman and incoming freshmen that stood out!
Asha Cobb | 2024 Point Guard | Conant
“Heart over Height” Asha plays the game with all heart. Most undersized guards use their height as an excuse.. not Asha. Defensively? She’s gritty, pesky, and a ball hawk. On the offensive side..her buckets don’t come easy, but she will always find a way to get them. When it comes to facilitating, her assists come in abundance. If she’s not attacking the rim, she’s looking for another way to feed her team. Asha is a team-first guard, which is becoming rare. If you’re on the court with her, don’t be afraid to make a mistake she is always uplifting her teammates.
Alexis DiOrio | 2024 Combo Guard/Forward | St Charles East
As a combo player, you have to be versatile on each side of the ball. Lexi demonstrates that on every possession. She’s built tough but moves with speed and grace. When she’s defending, be prepared to dig a little deeper in that bag. Her footwork on both sides of the ball is strong, as with most dual-sport athletes. She can take it off the glass and push the ball in an instant. The aggression she plays with leads to a bucket or an assist whenever she touches the ball.
Cameryn Phillips | 2024 Lockdown Guard | Oswego East
“Try Again”. In two short words, that’s what Cameryn’s defense says. Her defensive IQ is top tier. She can guard 1-3 with no problem but has no fear to body up with a 4/5. Her hand speed will force turnovers and make any ball handler uncomfortable. Her defense is so well put together, that I believe it strengthens her offense. With her understanding of the mechanics on that side, she can break down any offense. If you’re open she’ll find you, if you leave her open.. good luck. She will let it rip from deep, drive hard, or spoon-feed her rollers and wings.
Ellie Thompson | 2025 Combo Guard| Fremd
There are no blinders on this kid. If you want to get on the stat sheet.. keep moving cause Ellie will get it to you. Her head is always on a swivel and her eyes are always scanning. When she’s looking to score.. she’s simultaneously looking to pass. She shoots with no fear and attacks with the same type of mindset. Her IQ and patience with each possession limits her turnovers but increases her teammate’s efficiency. From passing to moving off-ball, she puts the team above herself always. Ellie is going to be a coach’s dream on any and all levels.
Danielle Brooks | 2026 Scoring Guard | Chicago Hoops Express (AAU)
Right to left… Left to right…Between the legs…Hesi… Step back… BUCKET. When she’s fiddling in her bag, it’s going to be a problem. Danielle has an offensive package in grammar school, that most high schoolers don’t and will never have. She’s a high-scoring guard who can pass, but her teammates have no problem playing off-ball on most possessions (she’s a sweetheart!) With nothing but years ahead to perfect her craft, Danielle is going to be showtime.. in no time!
