The high school school year has kicked off this week and several of the state’s top prospects have new homes. Here is a list of players that will be suiting up in new uniforms for the 2021-22 season.
Class of 2022
[player_tooltip player_id="91597" first="Paige" last="McDonald"] (Cocoa HS / Miami Suns)
[player_tooltip player_id="91597" first="Paige" last="McDonald"] is making the move from Palm Bay Magnet to Cocoa High School. The 5’10 athletic guard / wing is one of the state’s top uncommitted players in the class of 2022. She did not finish the high school season with Palm Bay Magnet and then made the move from East Coast United to the Miami Suns. McDonald’s athleticism and scoring ability will make her an immediate impact player for Cocoa High School for her Senior Season.
[player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"] (Montverde Academy / Essence) from American Heritage (Delray)
Codio make some moves this spring / summer both with her recruiting by de-committed from Wisconsin after a coaching change and committing to the University of Texas and then followed that up with an announcement that she will be attending Montverde Academy for her Senior season. At Montverde, Codio joins returning players [player_tooltip player_id="219954" first="Fatima" last="Diakhate"], [player_tooltip player_id="219953" first="Fernanda" last="Ovalle"], Mjaracle Sheppard, and [player_tooltip player_id="219934" first="Rusne" last="Augustinaite"] along with fellow transfers [player_tooltip player_id="91554" first="Janiah" last="Barker"] and [player_tooltip player_id="245281" first="Cori" last="Allen"] to make one of the countries most talented rosters.
[player_tooltip player_id="91554" first="Janiah" last="Barker"] (Montverde Academy / Essence) from Tampa Bay Tech
Barker made shockwaves both in the sunshine state and nationally when she announced her decision to attend Montverde Academy for her Senior season. Barker joins Codio as mentioned above and [player_tooltip player_id="245281" first="Cori" last="Allen"], giving Montverde three impactful transfers to an already talented roster. The state’s number one ranked prospect and top five ranked national prospect will make a huge impact at Montverde and give them a chance to be one of the top teams in the country!

[player_tooltip player_id="91562" first="Addison" last="Potts"] (South Fort Myers / Tampa Thunder Candice Dupree) from Seffner Christian
Potts had a busy month de-committing from Missouri, verbally committing to Purdue, as well as making decision to attend South Fort Myers High School, right down the street from her house. Potts has consistently been one of the state’s top players and will make South Fort Myers one of the top teams in Southwest Florida.

Class of 2023
[player_tooltip player_id="91648" first="Haley" last="Lang"] (South Fort Myers / Trinity Travel Basketball) from Cape Coral
Lang made the move to Dunbar High School from Cape Coral last season and now is headed to South Fort Myers HS with Potts. Lang is a long, versatile wing with great length and athleticism. In addition to changing high schools, Lang made moves with her travel team as well, switching over from FGB to the newly formed Trinity Travel Basketball program based out of Southwest Florida. With long time Dunbar Head Coach Dwayne Donnell departing Dunbar for Evangelical Christian School, it seems Lang decided not to stay at Dunbar with a new coach taking over.
[player_tooltip player_id="245281" first="Cori" last="Allen"] (Montverde Academy / TN Flight) from Hillsboro (TN)
Allen is a 5’10 guard who suited up for Hillsboro High School last year in Nashville, TN. She is part of a talented trio of transfers (Codio and Barker) that join an already talented Montverde Academy roster. The big, athletic guard averaged 14 points a game as a Freshman for Hillsboro is a can score at the rim, off the dribble, and from the outside knocking down the open 3.
[player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] (St. Thomas Aquinas / Essence) from American Heritage (Delray)
Ramsey departs American Heritage Delray and will suit up for St. Thomas Aquinas this season. After St. Thomas won the state championship this past season, losing Arkansas signee [player_tooltip player_id="91500" first="Samara" last="Spencer"], STA had some scoring to replace. Ramsey brings both scoring and rebounding ability and will keep STA in the hunt for a back-to-back state championship.
