Continue ReadingI’ll never forget watching 2028 Aliyah Prestridge (BTR) take a very hard hit in Oklahoma and I was so concerned that I went over to see how she was, of course, it shook me up because of her age and size battling against the big girls so I was teary-eyed. As I approached her, she looked at me and said “why are you crying, I got hit” and after that, no question about it #D1Lock, trust me on this one. She didn’t play at The Prime Event yet she was there to support her sister, 2026 Kyiah, also locked in at #D1 years ago so here are some of the youngsters from Oklahoma and Arkansas that left lasting impressions
Kyiah Prestridge-6’0 SG/SF (BTR 16U AA) 2026
Prestridge already has a “college-ready frame” yet she still hasn’t entered high school so when you factor in she’s playing up and has been playing up for quite some time and figuring out ways to “stand out” a light bulb should be going off like she has shown me she can do on the court, that’s going off because I don’t need a light bulb. Well, maybe I do, I asked her what her name was 5 times in a tournament after seeing her do damage at PassTha Ball Showcase but nevertheless, watching her create her shot under pressure and drop the mid to long-range is as exciting as her finishes which include after contact
Miciah Fusilier-6’3 SF/PF (Mavs Elite STRONG-Thompson) 2027
Fusilier is long and athletic and YOUNG and she too was playing up. I got an assist on this kid from Brett McCormick, I wasn’t even watching her court when he was going on and on about her so I had to take a peek. Timing is very good at this stage, I was overly impressed at watching her block shots consistently and grab the ball after the block to handle in the open court. The signs she’s showing not, playing against older players, has me smiling and before I leave, remember “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” so her name is one to remember
Trinity Boone-5’4 PG (Unity Basketball-Hawkins) 2027
Boone has been a standout at numerous showcases I’ve covered yet observing her progression on the court, playing up, was really satisfying to me on what she’s becoming. She’s always been poised on the court, which told me a lot of years ago, and now, she’s handling her business against older players. Yeah I’ve always liked her being heady and playing within herself yet one move just grabbed me and that was seeing her showing the HEZ in the open court, that’s short for hesitation, and once she masters it, it’s pretty impressive now, she is going to be hard to handle
