The PGH Washington Summer Showcase took place on August 14th and the talent on display was very impressive to say the least. The best performing of the 8 teams was ’Team 1’. This group had several legitimate college prospects on display. *All players listed are Washington based prospects unless otherwise noted
2023 5’2 PG [player_tooltip player_id="317109" first="Perla" last="Ruiz"] (Lake Stevens HS) had a strong showing overall. Ruiz is quick, aggressive and confident on the floor. She is obviously almost always going to be one of the smallest players on the floor, but the production was there on Saturday and that’s what matters in the end.
2024 5’6 G [player_tooltip player_id="317112" first="Naomi" last="Senato"] (Graham Kapowsin HS) displayed good court awareness with her passing and ability to make reads on the floor. The lefty guard is a solid rising sophomore in the ’24 class.
2025 5’6 G [player_tooltip player_id="317131" first="Amanda" last="Bennett"] (WF West HS) was a younger player in attendance in the ’25 class. She played on a stacked team, but was solid throughout and hit some jumpers.
2026 5’8 CG [player_tooltip player_id="317132" first="Brooklyn" last="Haywood"] (Middle School) was one of just a few 2026 prospects in attendance, but her game is far advanced. Haywood is a good jump shooter, but her passing and court awareness on the offensive end is already there. A Division 1 prospect in the 2026 class.
2022 5’7 G [player_tooltip player_id="317116" first="Madelyn" last="Brown"] (Auburn HS) was solid in her time at the showcase. She has some skill and basketball IQ to her and is a coach’s daughter, which is always a bonus.
2023 5’10 PF [player_tooltip player_id="317121" first="Nayella" last="George"] (Kamiak HS) showed out very well this weekend. George is strong, aggressive and fearless. Her ball handling showed some improvement from when I last saw her as well. A recruitable prospect for the right level in the 2023 class.
2023 5’10 SF [player_tooltip player_id="317119" first="Mya" last="Jones"] (Franklin HS) was on top of her game all camp. Jones has great length, mobility and swagger on the court. She can create her own shot and really seems to enjoy playing the game.
2023 5’9 G [player_tooltip player_id="115394" first="Marecia" last="Barnett"] (Emerald Ridge HS) showed a little bit of everything on the offensive end from hitting jumpers, scoring in transition to setting up for teammates. She is on the radar of colleges at multiple levels.
2023 5’9 G [player_tooltip player_id="115395" first="Maya" last="Barnett"] (Emerald Ridge HS) showed great strength, physicality and basketball IQ. Some colleges in attendance mentioned to me they will mark her down as a prospect to track for them. An overall strong performance.
2022 6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="158521" first="Sarah" last="Lamet"] (Tigard HS/OR) was the top performing prospect from the showcase. Lamet played extremely well on both sides of the ball. She showed ability to finish with either hand, had above average footwork and some exceptional passes from the high post. She also has great length and mobility to defend and block shots. A clear Division 1 prospect that should have multiple offers based off her performance at camp.
