Player Rankings Update 2024: By the Numbers

One of my favorite pieces for every rankings group is the ’By The Numbers’ piece. We take a closer look at some of the players on the rankings list by using some unique and - hopefully - entertaining statistics. <strong>14 </strong>- There are fourteen players on the list over six feet tall. Idabel’s [player_tooltip player_id="249275" first="Mary" last="Carden"] is the tallest, by far, at 6’5". The top two guards, [player_tooltip player_id="238722" first="Taliyah" last="Parker"] and [player_tooltip player_id="242119" first="Caya" last="Smith"] are both over six feet tall. <strong>338</strong> - Wright City’s [player_tooltip player_id="318169" first="Madison" last="Carter"] led all freshmen scorers last season with 338 points during the 2020-21 season. Madison averaged 16.9 points per game and shot a VERY high percentage from behind the arc. <strong>8.3</strong> - [player_tooltip player_id="318152" first="Landry" last="Braziel"] - making her debut on these rankings - led all freshmen in rebounding and ranked No. 6 in the state in rebounds per game. <strong>Nine </strong>- The Oklahoma Lady Fusion have nine players on the list, the most of any grassroots team. Led by Wagoner’s [player_tooltip player_id="241011" first="Gracy" last="Shieldnight"], the Lady Fusion have a loaded squad with players ranked at numbers 6, 11, 16, 23, 27, 30, 40, 55 and 66. <strong>30</strong> - Luther’s [player_tooltip player_id="318200" first="Addison" last="Harris"] hit 30 three-pointers last season, the third most of all freshmen in Oklahoma. Addison is a tremendous spot-up shooter and is extremely dangerous when given even a foot or two to get a shot off. <strong>34</strong> - There are 34 ’Combo Guards’ on the list, beginning with our No. 2-ranked player [player_tooltip player_id="242119" first="Caya" last="Smith"] and ending with No. 84-ranked [player_tooltip player_id="318208" first="Shalan" last="Haley"], a very well rounded defender and scorer from Wright City. <strong>Three</strong> - Out of the top-4 players on the list, three of them belong to the grassroots team Below The Rim (BTR). No.4-ranked [player_tooltip player_id="238723" first="Shamar" last="Bert"] is a quiet assassin who has a ton of moves and ways to get to the rim, she can also fill it up from deep and is an absolutely tenacious defender. By the way, all three players also play for Putnam City West who are going to be perennial title contenders for the next several years. <strong>21</strong> - Letters in the name of No. 22-ranked [player_tooltip player_id="318160" first="Gracie" last="Burckhartzmeyer"], the most of any other player. But, Gracie is more than just an awesome name, she is a sweet shooting guard who can really fill it up for a really good Wagoner squad.
