South Dakota 2022 Rankings Update: New Additions

[player_tooltip player_id="261993" first="Maleighya" last="Estes"] - 5’8 CG 2022 - White River - Team Unity/Sacred Hoops - Maleighya is a major addition to the rankings, coming in at #10 overall. She made a name for herself this past season for White River. She made the Class B All-State 2nd team, averaging 20.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 50% FG, 73% FT, 50 steals. To top things off, she was a big factor in White River winning a state championship. Could put up some scary scoring numbers this upcoming season, and potentially lead the state in scoring. She also put on a show this Spring/Summer, gaining a ton of attention from many. Her greatest skill is her ability to get up and down the court in a hurry. Has great quickness and top speed for being 5’11-6’0. An athletic frame and plays with intensity. Will push her opponent around, hold her ground, and create contact with her opponent in the paint. A strong athlete paired with her athletic ability as well. [player_tooltip player_id="317814" first="Morgan" last="Whiting"] - 5’11 PF-C 2022 - Sioux Falls Jefferson - A starter for Roosevelt this past season, but I have intel that she’ll be playing for new school, Sioux Falls Jefferson. A high energy, agile, prospect for Roosevelt. She was surrounded by a bunch of talent, but played her role to a tee -- rebounding, setting screens. [player_tooltip player_id="308203" first="Kellyn" last="Kortemeyer"] - 6’2 C 2022 - Custer - Sacred Hoops - Kellyn is a great addition, with probably the best shear size out of all the 2022’s. A very big and strong prospect. Still developing but is a strong rebounder and can get up off the ground well for her size. I believe she would be perfect for an NAIA program. [player_tooltip player_id="316060" first="Joy" last="Rohrbach"] - 5’5 PG 2022 - Aberdeen Christian - Joy is a smaller guard but is skilled as a ball-handler and shooter. Loves to distribute the ball to teammates and is a great assister. Cannot be left open from three and she’ll hit timely threes for Aberdeen Christian. Loves to push the tempo and get her team playing fast. [player_tooltip player_id="317426" first="Kaylee" last="Block"] - 5’9 SF 2022 - Aberdeen Christian - Kaylee is a wing that does the dirty work for Aberdeen Christian -- defends, sets good screens, gets after loose balls, etc. Also, finds ways to score the ball and earns her points by cutting to the hoop and by finding openings in the defense. She’s got an accurate three when given time and space. Overall, a highly active prospect that gives great energy, makes unnoticed plays, and shows exceptional basketball IQ. [player_tooltip player_id="317803" first="Jordynn" last="Salvatori"] - 6’0 Wing-PF 2022 - Yankton - Saw limited action of Jordynn but her length and defensive and offensive versatility easily standout. She runs the floor well and can defend multiple positions. She’s one to watch this season. [player_tooltip player_id="99750" first="Kiana" last="Mounga"] - 5’11 C 2022 - Aberdeen Central - Vipers - Kiana is a solid addition to the rankings as she produced off the bench at the AA level. A strong rebounder that isn’t afraid to go attack the ball in the air. She should have an expanded role this season as a Senior leader that the team will count on greatly. Plays with extreme effort and technique on the inside. [player_tooltip player_id="316059" first="Karilyn" last="Wieting"] - 5’5 CG 2022 - James Valley Christian - Karilyn is already a 1,000 point scorer for her career, so she’s a notable addition to the rankings. She has some solid skills and some quickness with the ball. James Valley Christian loves to manufacture three-point shots for Karilyn, and she was 46-151 from deep on the season. Had a season scoring average of 16.7 ppg. [player_tooltip player_id="316078" first="Lanie" last="Blair"] - 6’0 C 2022 - Kadoka - Lanie is a big and strong -- traditional -- back to the basket post. She’s the definition of a “bruiser”. She is constantly throwing her body at the post defender and creating contact. Lanie put in 12.4 ppg. and 5.9 rpg. for Kadoka. In her final eight games, she scored in double figures in each of them. [player_tooltip player_id="317386" first="Rebecca" last="Shuck"] - 5’10 SG 2022 - Kadoka - Rebecca is a very long shooting guard/wing that has some skills and can handle the ball. Has impressively long arms and some surprising movement to her. She contributed statistically all across the board, with 9.1 ppg., 5.4 rpg., 3.3 apg., 2.2 stls., and 1.7 blks. She got hot scoring three ball late in the season. Put up a ridiculous stat line in the win against Colome, with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 8 blocks! If I’m an NAIA/D3 program, I’m giving her a shot to see how she develops. [player_tooltip player_id="317419" first="Elizabeth" last="Yeaman"] - 5’9 PF-C 2022 - Colome - Elizabeth is a little undersized to be playing inside but she makes up for it with her strength, playing style, and high effort and alertness on the court. She will battle for the ball and rebound every time the shot goes up. She’s always a step ahead of her opponent in getting in position, in relation to the movement of the ball.
