The LBI Carolina Top 100 camp took place this past weekend at Carolina Courts in Concord and it featured some of the top talent from across the Carolina’s. Several prospects stood out in this event including many middle school prospects that’ll have an impact on the high school basketball landscape in the near future. Prep Girls Hoops NC highlights the players that made their mark at this camp.
[player_tooltip player_id="253285" first="Alyssa" last="Lewis"] (Hickory Ridge 2023 guard)
[player_tooltip player_id="253285" first="Alyssa" last="Lewis"] is a knockdown shooter and excellent ball handler from Hickory Ridge in Charlotte. The junior guard did really well in the individual skill work sessions to start the day and it carried over into the 30-minute game session near the end of the camp. Lewis made great reads out of the pick-and-roll and rarely turned the ball over during the course of both games.
[player_tooltip player_id="323902" first="Valerie" last="Veauthier"] (Pine Forest 2023 guard)
At times during the 30-minute game session, Pine Forest’s [player_tooltip player_id="323902" first="Valerie" last="Veauthier"] simply couldn’t miss from three point range. The 2023 prospect from Fayetteville showed steadiness and consistency knocking down several clutch shots to keep her team in the game. She also had a great showing last week at the 9Dime Girls Fall League and will be one to watch out for this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="217742" first="Kayla" last="Friend"] (South Central 2022 guard/forward)
An underrated 2022 prospect who performed well at the Carolina Top 100 is [player_tooltip player_id="217742" first="Kayla" last="Friend"] from South Central in Winterville. She’s a double-double machine for the Falcons and showed her rebounding and scoring prowess at this camp. Friend finished well around the basket, created second chance looks for her team, and even hit a few mid-range jumpers.
[player_tooltip player_id="326208" first="Gracynn" last="Gough"] (Charlotte Catholic 2024 forward)
Charlotte Catholic forward [player_tooltip player_id="326208" first="Gracynn" last="Gough"] is another Queen City prospect that had an excellent showing at the Carolina Top 100. Her ability to stretch the floor and handle the ball at her size makes her a matchup problem for most opponents. She takes smart, efficient shots and communicates well with her teammates making her an impact player. Alongside nationally ranked 2024 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="253883" first="Blanca" last="Thomas"], Gough will be a big part what should be another good season for Cougars.
