Several talented prospects stood out and led their teams to the semifinals which take place this weekend. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at some standout performers from the first round of the postseason.
Skylar White (2023 guard, E.E. Smith)
Efficiency is the name of the game for E.E. Smith guard Skylar White, a prospect who is starting to get offers/interest from several Division One programs. She hit the clutch free throw to complete a comeback win in the opening round of the playoffs and made some key buckets down the stretch to give her team a chance at the end.
Jayda Angel (2024 guard, Cape Fear)
One of the top scorers at the 9Dime Fall League, Jayda Angel is beginning to break out as a one-on-one scoring threat. With her team missing some key players last weekend, she stepped into the center spot and despite her size, rebounded extremely well and made several big plays in the second half to preserve a victory for her team.
DeNaira Williams (2024 guard, South View)
A second team all-9Dime Fall League selection from South View, DeNaira Williams has played consistently well throughout the season. She finishes well in the lane, hits mid-range jump shots, and leads by example on both ends of the floor. Expect her to have a big sophomore season for the Tigers after leading her team in scoring as a freshman.
Valerie Veauthier Valerie Veauthier 5'5" | SG Holly Springs | 2023 NC (2023 guard, Pine Forest)
Like Williams, Valerie Veauthier Valerie Veauthier 5'5" | SG Holly Springs | 2023 NC was also named to the all-9Dime Fall League second team and deservedly so. She was one of the top players in the league this season and made her mark from three point range. Although her team was eliminated last week, Veauthier got to her spots and knocked down three after three to the point where she simply couldn’t miss.
