2021 Show-N-Prove: Top 2024 Prospects – Part 2
By Michael Wholey 11/4/21 9:00 AM EST
Kim Davis Powell and John McGraw got together to host the 2021 Show-N-Prove Showcase in Daytona Beach. The two-day event featured some of the state’s top players across the 2022-2028 classes. We were in attendance for both days and will break down the performance of the events top players. Here we take a second look at the top prospects in the 2024 class that were at the event.
We wrote about [player_tooltip player_id="248320" first="Trinity" last="Turner"] and [player_tooltip player_id="223789" first="Shakirah" last="Edwards"] identifying them as two of the top overall prospects at the event and the top two 2024s HERE, as well as several other of the top 2024 players at the event here.
In addition to Turner and Edwards, the following players had impressive performances.
[player_tooltip player_id="219927" first="Ka’Zahria" last="Johnson"] (Miami Norland High School)
Johnson has been one of my favorite players for several years now and in my opinion is one of the top post prospects in the state regardless of class. She continues to improve every time I see her play on the offensive game improving her range, finishing ability around the rim, and her strength. At 6’2, she is an extremely intimidating presence in the paint and affects a number of shots as a shot blocker and hauls in boards on both the offensive and defensive end. When she gets the court time, provided she is not in foul trouble, she is a double-double machine. She is really beginning to fill into her frame and has developed multiple post moves and 10-15 feet range. She is most effective as a defender and rebounder but has a much improved offensive game!
[player_tooltip player_id="219929" first="Raeanne" last="Eccleston"] (Colonial HS)
Eccleston was impressive all weekend and was definitely a new face and one of the top post prospects that I have seen. She is a long, young post who is a bit hobbled with a knee but effective inside as a shot blocker, rebounder, and back to basket post. She is a blue collar worker who plays hard, aggressive, and physical. Her game is not always pretty but she is productive and not afraid to mix it up and does all of the little things her teammate does and is a big time hustle player.
[player_tooltip player_id="331713" first="Nia" last="Blocton"]
Blocton is a versatile wing / forward who is an active rebounder, shot blocker, and runs the floor hard and consistently for easy baskets in transition. I loved her energy and activity level as she played hard on both ends and can cover wings, forwards and centers. She is a quick leaper who gets up in the air for rebounds, to finish at the rim, and to block shots. High, high potential!
[player_tooltip player_id="221841" first="Shania" last="Swan"] (Miami Norland High School)
Swan is a strong, scoring combo guard who plays hard and can shoot the cover off the ball. She is an average athlete who shoots a high percentage from 3, helping her team to space the floor. She has a quick release and is confident to pull from anywhere! Her strong build make her a good rebounder from the guard position, allow her to take contact when attacking the basket, and be a physical defender vs smaller and weaker perimeter players.
[player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"] (Mater Lakes)
Hession was one of the top young guards at the showcase and has an exceptional overall game. She is not exceptional at any one thing but she is really good at a lot of things on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Having seen her 5+ times over the last two years, her performance and production are consistent. She handles the ball, knocks down open shots, finishes at the rim, and is in good shape and play big minutes at either the PG or SG position. She uses her long frame well to get to the rim and is a very effective on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="243892" first="Carmen" last="Richardson"] (Colonial HS)
Richardson has an impressive build and is what a lot of college coaches are looking for. She is long (both in the legs and arms), has an athletic build, and is strong! She has a big presence on the perimeter as she is typically 1-3 inches taller than anyone guarding her and can use her height to shot over the top of them, score at the rim, or just look over the top of defenses vs pressure. She uses her length and athleticism well on the defensive end as well, getting her hands on a lot of balls for steals and deflections.
[player_tooltip player_id="221695" first="Jazlyn" last="Laguna"] and [player_tooltip player_id="221694" first="Jaylyn" last="Laguna"] (Everglades HS) are a 1-2 punch for Everglades HS, handling the PG and SG responsibilities. They handle the ball, knock down the open shot, play hard on offense and defense, and are in decent shape. Their height limits them as they struggle vs bigger and stronger players but just entering their sophomore year they have time to adjust. Both are very cool, calm, and collected on the court – never getting too high, never getting too low. They consistently play hard and their production will be a key to Everglades season.
