<p class="p1">Charlotte Hoops Challenge hosted some of the top teams in the area over the weekend.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Here are some of the standout 2023 guards that performed well at the competition.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="116914" first="Mia" last="Xerras"] | Myers Park</b></p>
<p class="p1">16 points // 7 assists // 3 steals</p>
<p class="p1">Xerras came right in the game showing off her shot from beyond the arc.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She did well anticipating passes on defense to grab steals.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does an excellent job creating separation from her opponents getting them on their heels long enough to put up her shot.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She makes nice passes into her teammates for their own points underneath the basket.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="158260" first="Maraja" last="Pass"] | Shelby</b></p>
<p class="p1">23 points // 8 rebounds // 5 assists // 5 steals // 1 block</p>
<p class="p1">Pass is smooth with the ball showing off some nice crossovers to get away from her opponents and get to the hoop.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does a great job driving and dropping it down to her open teammate underneath the basket.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She had a nice floater over her defenders to score her points.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She easily takes the ball from coast to coast finishing at the rim.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Her anticipation on defense led to steals that she pushed to the other end of the court with speed.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="201847" first="Ally" last="Hollifield"] | Shelby</b></p>
<p class="p1">10 points // 3 assists // 3 steals</p>
<p class="p1">Hollifield is showing why she’s already a great shooter draining it from deep.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She had a nice old fashioned three point play, too.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>On the defensive end of the court, her opponents learn their lesson bringing the ball down low as she strips it away from them blocking their passes and ability to put up a shot.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She hit a deep three as time expired to send the game into overtime.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="116906" first="Samyha" last="Suffren"] | Cannon</b></p>
<p class="p1">22 points // 7 rebounds // 2 assists // 6 steals</p>
<p class="p1">Suffren is a dominant athlete no matter where she plays on the court.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She can bring the ball up blowing by her opponents, and she can set herself up as a shooting guard showing off her range from deep.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does a little bit of everything on the court including getting inside to grab rebounds using her strength to move her opponents out of the way.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Her quickness and basketball IQ allows her to grab steals moving it quickly the other direction.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="253887" first="Jordyn" last="Latter"] | Providence Day</b></p>
<p class="p1">15 points // 9 rebounds // 1 assist // 1 steal</p>
<p class="p1">Latter is effective making cuts to the basket waiting for the pass to score her points.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She runs the floor with speed ready to catch a pass in transition and put it up for a fast break.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She can go up high for passes making her an easy target no matter where she is on the court.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>Mckenzie Taylor | Concord Academy</b></p>
<p class="p1">13 points // 4 rebounds // 2 assists // 5 steals</p>
<p class="p1">Taylor was grabbing steals and causing problems on defense the entire game.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She is sneaky when it comes to jumping into passing lanes to grab steals.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She had some clutch old fashioned three point plays to cut into the lead from Providence Day.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She gets to the hoop using crossovers to get by her opponents.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="254584" first="Kirsten" last="Lewis-Williams"] | Lake Norman</b></p>
<p class="p1">17 points // 8 rebounds // 4 assists // 3 steals // 2 blocks</p>
<p class="p1">Lewis-Williams (pictured above) makes smart cuts in and out of the paint ready for a pass from her teammates to put through the hoop.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She hustles all over the court showing off her she blocking ability as she got back on defense stopping her opponents from getting a fast break.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She was always ready to shoot even with some putbacks on the offensive side of the ball.</p>
